Hows the rest of the car coming along, Steve?
If your referring to my beast, my life is on hold due to a detached retina. Two laser eye surgerys later, it's now slowly healing.
I was told no lifting, bending, etc for several weeks now. I am so close to getting my car running. I was hoping to drive it to the Phoenix club, car show and swap meet, but that ain't going to happen again.
Holy moly, Steve (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) How'd that happen? Hang in there ... and hope to see you at the Phoenix Club (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I was asking the other Steve (pneuhyde) - he bought my '72 5-lug roller back in 2013 and last time he posted some pix, it was shaping up nicely.

OK, I have the keys to the 'BB' in my hand, so let's see what I can get done today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Viagra!! Just kidding!! I was told that 20% of the people that get floaters could also get a detached retina. i guess I am one of the unlucky ones. It only detached a little bit, but they still have to laser it back on, so it doesn't get worse.

Hmmm, I have some of them floaters too, and some cataracts ... guess I'd better keep the eye Dr. appt. I have coming up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

OK, I got the lower dash out, steering wheel off, circlip and the hand controls are out, but can't get the darn ignition switch to budge loose (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (which is another thread in the garage) ... click here

Hey, don't try this at home kids (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

While attempting to disassemble the windshield wiper control assembly to clean the contacts (because it only has ONE speed), a whole bunch of little parts and springs flew out of the housing. I found them all which was a pretty big surprise in itself, but I also figured out how it's supposed to work. Now, if I can just get it all back together. The problem is that I need 4 hands and will have to fabricate a couple of special tools to do it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Luckily, I had a spare assembly at the shop, so that's one less headache to deal with for the moment (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Installed the speedo angulo drive. I soaked it for a couple days in the acetone/PS fluid blend, and it turns real smooth. Dried it and packed in a little 00 grease, which is not very viscous.

Now I'm back in the house, watching the snow fly.... Sigh...

Someday, I'll drive the car again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I dropped it off to have the RD front and rear trunk pieces welded in along with both trunk hinge brackets. I have seen the guys work and it is very good and the price isn't bad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The front was because at one time it was an AC car and was cut out and the rear half of the rear trunk just rusted out (I assume). The drivers side hinge broke and the pass side had at one time and it looks like someone like me tried to weld it. it held but looks nasty.

Replaced the crappy Vitalone side view mirrors with a pair of '73 Mustang mirrors.

(sorry for the double post on this, since I have a separate thread).

I counted 9 914s at Bill Brewster's open house in San Clemente. There were a lot of different Porsches and a lot of hot rods…

Glad you went Larmo, I couldn't be there with the green 914, but my father in law, Bill was there with my 14 year old son. They took Billl's 2000 blue 911 convertible, 996 I guess. I think I see the nose in one your pics. I hope to make it next month and hope to meet you and some more of the locals on this forum. Brewster's rebuilt our gearbox and has helped us get our car for auto cross. CC01 class champ for 2014.

Replaced the 41 year old original brake hoses. I can't believe that they said 6-74. You would have thought they would have been replaced by now!!!

Yesterday I installed a flourecent light over my new work area in the shop, and bolted my vise down.

Today I got the intake removed from the 3.2, took the engine wire harness apart and pulled out the wires I won't need. Rerouted the harness and install the new male 14 pin connector. Now the engine harness will just plug into the car female 14 pin connector, no relay board. Made a wire harness to connect the oil pressure and oil temp senders to plug into the car harness going to the gauges. Now just the wiring going into the cabin to wire, and the electrical will be done. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
