I see you have "the tool" for this project.

How long did it take you?

That is my next project and wanna get it done before the WCR.

Chad told me that it took him all weekend... but it's hit or miss. Mine only took me 4-5 hours. Depends on how much rust you have and how stuck everything is.

The tool is awesome. I also loaned Chad my set of toe plates so he could get the steering dialed in. IMHO, they're worth investing in, even if you don't do your own alignments.

Which tool are you guys referring to? I need to do this job soon and any special tools to make it easier I'd like to get in advance.

Got out for the first drive added some fuel system cleaner and topped up the tank with some fresh 93 octane. Jumped on it just a little...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I supposed to test drive my 75 1.8 if I will get more than 220 degrees F after 5 lug conversion. Well I have to finish wife car before anything else. Replaced front rotors with new pads and inner tie rod.

I drove it! first time in 2015... it was a cold couple of months here.
Finally had enough rain this past weekend to wash the salt off the roads.

It got up to 91 &deg here in the South Bay today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ...so I took a little drive in the 'BB' and picked up some cold liquid refreshments (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Worked on Eileen and one of my little Hondas when I got home (have week-long desert outing coming up next week).

I made the decision to mount my new set of 195/65-15 Kumho tires on a spare set of ATS Classics, so I grabbed everything from the shop in preparation.

Film at 11 ...

I lowered and measured the front end of Speedy: Measure, crank, drive, measure, drive, crank, measure, drive. Perfect. I don't know why I'm doing this as all new suspension goes on next week.

Picked up 2.0 pipes I had ceramic coated and a powder coated gauge panel.

Sounds like some great stuff you are doing with this car, Lawrence! This car is going to be killer when you get done with it, then you can sell it to me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(Philip W. @ Mar 8 2015, 09:50 PM) *

Painted another wheel today.
Last one took forever to cure and harden so this one i thinned just a little and I added a curing agent, japan dryer. 2 down and 3 to go.

I taped off the back holes, leveled the wheel over a basin and poured the paint in until it was up to the level of the original paint line.
I will post more pictures after its dry
.

so after 6 days , these are still not dry, i have a feeling this will take a month for the enamel to fully cure. just too thick in the outside area - spraying will take longer to tape off but pouring them makes it too thick to dry fast. - the first one i did took over a month to cure and harden, but that is ty pical of an oil based enamel.

i was hoping i could mount it before the cars and coffee next weekend but i dont think it will be ready.

- btw as someone suggested, i did clean out the holes where the lug nuts seat so that they would be metal on metal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
they do look pretty good though!

It's that spanner wrench in the backround on the ground. There is a member here who laser cut some out from some HSLA steel.

I borrowed one from a local member here so I could do mine this month.

Finshed up my LED light conversions with Spoke's signals all around, then all the "other" bulbs too...was thinking of making up a bulb guide for all the extras --Did both front side markers, the license plate lights, the trunk light and interior dome bulb (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Looks good. I'd be interested in seeing that guide if you decide to compile it. Thanks.

Thanks!! It's a big change, the pictures don't really capture the "magic" you get in person... Now the only thing left is a couple of interior bulbs and $$$$ headlights $$$$ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

It was 95 degrees here today, so I didn't feel compelled to work on a black car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Instead, did some more prepping for my desert camping trip next week. Had to locate more camping equipment and deal with a flat tire on the Z50 I'm taking. I disassembled the rear wheel but couldn't get the bead to lose it's grip on the wheel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) ... ended up just swapping a wheel from another [non-running] bike.

Attached Image

Since components of the uncooperative wheel are apart, I sanded and painted the hub with Dupli-color #DE1615 (Aluminum) to see how close it matches the original color. Looks like a good match to me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Attached Image

While rummaging, I ran across an envelope with some cool suspension wrenches that Doug (dlee6204) made. One of them was already starting to rust, so I filed the sharp edges and threw a heavy coat of Rustoleum Rust Reformer on it. I'll do the same to other one later.

Attached Image

Hope to get back to working on the 'BB' this week end ... RT-66 Run is getting close (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I was having trouble seating my front Targa Top Seal (that I purchased from 914Rubber awhile back) onto the rail, And then it hit me - Lube the rubber up with a little soapy water -
