Worked on my backpad warpage at the bottom. I glued some of the vinyl back & got it a little wet on the back side. Then clamped a board below & above. Letting it sit overnight & hoping the bottom will straighten out some.

I also bought a blasting cabinet to clean up smaller parts. Spent half my day doing stuff with it. After figuring my little 1hp 3gallon air compressor just wasn't going to cut it. I went & bought a 2 1/2hp 21 gallon air compressor. Things went much smoother after getting that. Of course it was a 3 hour break driving back up to Harbor freight & back. I then painted my seat mounts after getting all the old crap off. Still need one more coat but I am off to see the Blazer game with my son (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Installed the Weber 40s in place of the 44s.

It's amazing how much better it runs when you have the accelerator pump diaphragms installed correctly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Mounted the washer fluid pump and plumbed the system...

Had to wait for these to arrive:

Completed the wiring of the euro H4s with 100/80 bulbs (fused relays, etc). All I can say is, OH MY what a difference. It's a shame them beauties will always be hidden during the day.

Got the gas tank on jackstands today, lol. Doing the electrolysis treatment (was wearing my foil hat). I should have taken pics of the tank before, tons of loose scale all over the inside...

Did the annual maintenance: spark plugs, oil and filter change, valve adjustment and a first for me, changed the trans oil.

Ready for another year. We'll start with going to the Phoenix Club tomorrow.

Replaced my master cylinder (what a pain) and reservoir. Bled the system and cleaned up the garage some. New wheels should be fitted next weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

As a new owner of a '74 914 1.8, I'm still learning about these special cars! Today I managed to:

- fix the odometer (thanks Pelican's!)
- fix the steering wheel (PO removed the center horn section)
- replaced the air filter
- readjusted the engine bay lid - it would fly open if you hit a hard bump
- fixed the interior light between the seats
- and DROVE IT! nice weather - couldn't resist!

The relay kit was well constructed, but the issue was that neither of the harnesses to the bulb sockets was long enough. Luckily I had plenty of 12 gauge wire, and was able to put in a 8" and 16" splice. Th splicing was a real time sucker, but luckily I had all th connectors, shrink wraps, etc. Also had to remove the wires from the sockets on all four connectors to get them through the grommets, so it took far longer than I anticipated. But still like the result and am pretty good at wiring.

And then I took it out for a drive and wrung the piss out of it. Man does that car stick.

Went to the 'All Porsche Swap Meet' this morning. Sure were a lot of really nice cars on display (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

This afternoon, continued work on my interior back pad. I tried to get the 3M '77' adhesive to re-secure the loose vinyl a few times during the week, but no luck (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) ... I finally said fuch it and grabbed my T-50 stapler to fix the problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

After a good scrubbing, I sprayed the pieces with tan Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Coating. This back pad is temporary until I figure out the best way to install the carpet on the firewall (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

My backpad turned out good. The bottom was warped & far from perfect. After swapping the bolster on the drivers side. I glued the vinyl some & used a board above & below to clamp it together. The glue softened it up a little. After clamping it overnight it did a respectable job of getting it back to it's original shape. So I reinstalled it this morning & it looks great.

I also started putting the center console back in. There is one brown wire on the center console I am a little unsure of. It is with the wires that go to the gages. Except it has a clip for a screw to go through it. I am thinking it is a ground & should connect below the gages to the mount? I'll get a pic tomorrow

retorqued the CV's
bled the brakes
pulled both carbs off
pulled one header off
changed out the tranny fluid
washed 14 wheels
cleaned all of the tire rubber off of the exterior
readjusted the front hood mounts
took the rockers off and cleaned the rubber out of the longs
drained the oil, cleaned the auxillary filter
charged the battery
updated the software on the traqmate
took the front skid pan off to check for leaks
serviced the wheel bearings on the trailer
cleaned the fuel filter


its a start
I have a long way to go to run through the winter mainenance list.

Removed the last copper exhaust gasket. Boy was that one a bugger to get out. The other 3 just fell out. Now, just waiting on the exhaust system to come back from a Cerekote shop, and the front struts to be installed, then it's done! Might have the push rod tube seals done while the exhaust is off...
