Yes I did feel more body vibration now. I was thinking of fixing or improving my issue on my 2nd gear grinding, shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Well didn't improve and now vibration appeared after installation. Good I didn't buy the wevo which is expensive and will make more harder and maybe more vibration.
How tight is your clutch cable adjusted, Noel? It's possible you need to tighten it up a little more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) They stretch over time.

You may experience more vibration transfer with those. I tried a set, and went back to stock because of that.
Remember, Joe, we live in California - the land of never-ending earthquakes. A little extra vibration doesn't bother us guys that much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Hah, yeah, Mark that's true, I left Encino for the east coast less than two weeks before the Northridge quake... So now it's all about Nor'easters and hurricanes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

But the buzzing from those mounts drove me nuts. Plus they seemed to fit at a different angle IIRC (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Hi Sir Mark! My clutch seems to be okay and I did several adjustment like halfway releasing the pedal before the engine engage or too low that is just enough to push in the shift to reverse. Forgot to mentioned, i drove the car with 2nd gear grinding during our Route 66 run.

IIRC, the difference in height between the mounts was less than 1/4". A lot of the time, one needs to elongate the flange holes a little too.

I had a bunch of good used ones on the shelf, so decided to go ahead and use 'em. The 'BB's suspension is pretty stiff so I didn't notice much of a difference in ride comfort. I'd rather experience a 'P' wave instead of an 'S' wave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

This was yesterday but finished installation of the sound deadener that I had started last weekend. Used Fatmat based on my mechanic's recommendation. No asphalt smell yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Will begin reinstalling the carpet etc this weekend.
Had a weird no-start issue out of nowhere that was solved by splicing the starter wires at the seatbelt interlock relay.
Replaced the worn injector boots with ones from 914rubber. Replaced a leaking injector with a used one from OU8AVW (thanks, man!).
And finally fixed the darn horn. Had to replace the slip ring, base plate, the rubber spring pad deal, and the spring plate assembly and swap in a new relay. Old horns were bad too so those were replaced with some aftermarket horns from the FLAPS. Sounds like a Beetle...
All I need now to pass inspection is reverse lights. Gonna troubleshoot those this weekend. I already have the activating pin for the switch and I'm hoping its that because a new OEM switch is around $100.

I ran out of gas because I had grown to trust the low fuel light which apparently isn't working anymore (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I've ran out of gas in the Vanagon twice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) … the sender checks out good, guess it's the gauge that needs repaired.

I carry a 2 gallon jug in every vehicle now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Decided to address the surface rust in the battery tray. Probably should have done a more careful job but at least this should take care of things for a while.

By the way, I put a battery mat in about a three months ago and the attached pic is what I saw before removing it to clean the battery area. Is this from battery acid leaking? Surprised that this happened so quickly. Thought that mat would last for a year or two.Attached Image Attached Image

Try switching to a sealed battery next time? I installed an Odyssey battery the last go-around (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

I ordered steel lug nuts last week and I installed them ( on five lug Fuchs) today. There were quite a bit of aluminum shards and weirdness when I took the old ones off to do all new PMB brakes. Now everything is new. I feel better being able to see the threads now instead of the black aluminum caps. New nuts are yellow zinc, kind of cool.

(I read the thread about steel vs aluminum lug nuts last week and took action)
