I am glad I am not the only one who uses a piece of cardboard to catch those pesky leaks!

After 5 days of gas tank de-rusting through electrolysis the tank looks clean, extra time was needed for all the rust and removing the coating that failed.

Swish around a bunch of metal ready in the tank & rinse

Then onto the caswell 2 part epoxy tank sealer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Removed some peeling tint film and adhesive residue from the rear window (what a pain in the ass that was) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) ... and Installed the rest of interior stuff. It's not great, but a lot better than it was

Attached Image

Removed the original rear bumper from my wife's car, polished it up, installed both front and rear on my car

Attached Image

Attached Image

After all that, I actually like the look of the black bumpers better (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ... oh well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Finished up the last of the under-car items and we put it back on the ground. Carbs received new throttle return springs and were re-jetted. Richard installed the carbs along with the CSP linkage. Also installed the rebuilt dizzy and new plug wires. Brad Penn break-in oil and fresh gas are in, should be ready to fire up in a day or so (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

It's FIX-IT DAY

1. Fixed a broken armrest on my favourite [but badly deteriorating] garage chair (what a CSOB) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
Attached Image

2. I leaned over to grab something out of the glove box and my home brew cup holder collapsed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)
Used larger diameter dowels this time + added two more in the middle. Secured them with screws instead of skinny little finish nails (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
Attached Image

... and 3. Started repairing my dual-outlet valance

Charged the battery
Re installed the battery
Drove it a bunch (what fun)
Parked it
Disconnected the battery so it wouldn't drain.

It was a rather busy day on the 914...
-Installed a wilwood brake proportioning valve (bled brakes about 3 times)
-Set rear caliper vent clearance.
-Cleaned/restored windshield wiper hardware (seals and such needed to be cleaned and polished
-Cleaned my old rubber rear trunk pad from the parts car. I was amazed I still actually had it. I don't ever remember pulling it from the parts car....
-Installed new targa latch cups in the rear trunk after melting holes in it for the battery cables to run through.
-Replaced tail light bulbs that were desperately in need of replacement, in preparation for the new set of tail light lenses.

That's it for today.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Flipped mine on its back like a turtle....

To fit floor pans and fix some of the other rust holes.

I will be holding the pans in with Chelecos (aviation, removable fasteners) untill I can get it on the bench to straighten before welding.

Looks like the easy way to fit a sittening kit.

Bled my brakes again, Fitted new wheel adaptors and rear wheels, Need to cut more clearance for the front hubs. Changed the oil, replaced my accelerator cable (because I had a new one laying around and didn't know the condition of the old one.) Cut my dash panel to accept the new head unit which is on the way with my handy Dremel I just got and worked on refreshing the top and getting ready to install a new head liner. Busy day but not as productive as I had hoped.

I finished my dash face recover. (see separate thread) replaced the coil, dizzy finger and cap (no idea if this ia the right term) repainted some dinks.
Found out that the finger was the wrong one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
Put the old one in and had a nice drive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
