Continued my parts hoarding and was reminded, never trust a NLA statement and always check prices (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Managed to get one of these no problem for A LOT less than they were posted for recently (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Pretty much, the drivers mirrors are easy to find, the convex passenger side mirror, not so much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Took a small detour from the workshop, and went to Aase Motors to pick up the black 2.0. A rather rare mid engine 6 was there, 1964 Platypus #001. Weighing in less than 1,500 lbs. 200 hp , right hand drive. Originally driven by Scooter Patrick. The engineering and packaging in this tube frame Porsche is awesome.

Had a few free hours yesterday afternoon, so drove the 'BB' down to the shop. Cleaned up a set of 2.2L heads and snapped some photos for Brant.

On the way down there, some knucklehead came out of a hotel parking lot (on my right) and made a left turn right in front of me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/new_shocked.gif)
Fuchin tourist - I had to quickly apply the brakes, then almost as quickly, apply middle finger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/finger.gif)

P.S. Looking around the shop, realized that there's a lot of stuff there that needs to find new homes - I'll be posting a lot in the classifieds soon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Andyrew...
Carrying a bit more weight, but I like more bars for the safety+ rigidity of the car.
Finished up the 2 rear air jack support/guide housings.

yesterday, took my daugher to lowe's for their "build and grow" for the kids project. she is always pointing out other porsche s as we drive along. On the way home we saw several. saw a nice Cayman at the light, and later while passing a panomera about 5 miles down the highway(i ws making good time) when the Cayman pulled up along us he gave a big thumbs, and she says" daddy, i think she likes our car"
yes i believe there are more and more porsche owners that appreciate our little cars here on the right coast there are very few that you will see out on the road, maybe thats why they get a good bit of attention here.

Did some small stuff, changed out the sun visors to the new ones from Sierra Madre (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) HUGE difference from my whopped in the @ss originals then did another small project I've just never taken the time for, changing out the "PRESS" stickers on the seat belts, 5 minutes time, big difference there too

Was sitting at work today when a guy pulls up in a late model Chevy. He walks in and asks about the 914 out front. I tell him it's mine and he told me about his find - a two-owner '72 that he found after a random stop along a country road. The elderly gentleman who owned it bought it from a friend who was original owner. It has been sitting for 25+ years due to a bad brake caliper (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
A deal was struck and new owner now has a low-rust base 914 in very nice condition - no vinyl on targa bar, steel rims with hubcaps, original FI. Unfortunately, it has a bad color-change paint job (white) over the original red. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
I gave him info on this site and Okteenerfest so hope to see him around. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif)
