I bought a "new" targa top for 75 bucks, with texture and latches included. (mine had been sanded and body color painted. . not a look I care for)

Not today, but last week, on my way home from San Felipe. I stopped by Original Customs to soak up some knowledge for my upcoming GT build from McMark. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)
Now that the scooter is done it is time to get to work on the 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) Thanks again to McMark for the insight and encouragement. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Hey. BTW, whos Gold car is that in the background? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

what did I do today...... I headed to the powdercoater in Orange CA / one of the hottest places on earth relative to the beach. I actually had to deploy my roof for the first time since WCR,... then......
sat on the side of the road many miles from the carpark in 100 degree heat waiting for the trusty AAA man..... I need the AA man..... now My 405mile-new fuel pump died and redies when the car heats up Just in time to have to bail on the wine tour tomorrow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) Does anyone have experience with this intermittent death to fuel delivery?? Fuses are good, fuel is new. fuel filter is as new as the pump. jumper wire in the relay board is good to go as well as the fuses therein... Then, after a lovely afternoon of riding for two hours thru Friday afternoon traffic in SoCal, the friggin thing fired up instantly in my carpark in Laguna. very strange. The good news is that this didn't happen in Temecula tomorrow with my lovely wife roasting in the passenger seat while sitting in front of a laDeda wine vineyard while within visual and aural proximity to the soft tinkling of fine china, crystal stemware, and canapés being served on sterling silver trays. Maybe that is not what happens at a typical Temecula winery but the potential for upset is too great until I sort this mystery out. I relocated mine to the front and have no fuel pump issues at all! |

That's where I am putting my $. My '73 vapor locked on me on the Grapevine going to LA back in the mid-'70's. Moved the fuel pump to the front and that solved it for good.

Mounted a thermometer...
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/lh3.googleusercontent.com-431-1434846158.1.jpg) "Official" temp is doctored so the tourists don't bail. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/lh3.googleusercontent.com-431-1434846159.2.jpg) |
