I like your fender flares! Did you do those yourself?

Thanks; they're Tangerine Racing flares as correctly observed above. ^^^

The car is sitting on 10" Hoosier R80 (soft) radial slicks on 8 and 9x15's.

Got a package from Tangerine and then sat down infront of my motor trying to figure how to adapt the carb linkage to my ITB's...

Cleaned and packed carefully for storage my recently purchased Bumblebee insurance policy. Hopefully it will never be needed but just in case.........lets not tell Kathy what happened to the missing towels and all the Saran Wrap. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Looking for advice on recovering these. I will have my kit from 914rubber soon and need to prep them. There is some foam damage so I need advice on repair OR a beeter set of core seats to purchase for recovering.

I've got that same interior in my 76. Lets us know how well the material matches.

I replaced the pushrod tube seals on the driver's side tonight. With any luck, I'll do the passenger side tomorrow. Then I'll be able to reinstall the exhaust & heat exchangers, and get it off the jackstands. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

We got back from a long trip to AZ (in the Tundra) late Monday night. Didn't get a chance to drive the 'BB' yesterday, but I drove around town for a while and picked up a few groceries today. A lady walking by as I was getting out, commented "there's an oldie but a goodie". I think she was referring to the car? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

i contacted Mark , and he suggested getting similar density foam from an upholtery shop locally and gluing it on then trimming it back smooth-- has any one else done this and documented the proceedure?? What kind of glue? what density did the factory use?

I'm going to give this a try. I'm going to use carpet underlayment to pad the sides and back and very high density foam for the seat cusion. I want much firmer cusion than stock. The foam is from joann fabric, the carpet underlayment from home depot. Look on youtube. Many people use an electric carving knife to shape the foam, I bought one on ebay for $15.

An automotive interior supply will have all the different foam panels you need as well as the spray glue. Also, use a piece of 3/4" - 1" memory foam for your top or final layer. Your trimmed final shape will not be as smooth as OEM but once the cloth or vinyl is stretched over it will smooth out. I made the seats in the plane I built and it is not that difficult. i was thinking about the memory foam idea as well. and i am pretty sure we have the same fabric store chain here so i will check them out this weekend. I am going to try and get these ready so that when my kits come from 914rubber i am ready to cover them.
I wonder if the side bolsters material could be made with an inch or 2 extra so that i could add extra thick foam on them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I drove it to the county clerk's office while the new owner of my 1976 VW Westy followed me for a change in ownership (of the Westy). Hated to see the Westy go (I've owned it for more than 25 years), but I never drove it anymore, it sold it for $9k, and that gives me a nice lump to invest in my 914 (and other air cooled German sporty cars).

Long live the air-cooled 2.0l!

I drove the piss out of Speedy today, and I must say that I really like the rear sway bar. Having just the front one in is better than without it, but with both installed, in my opinion, the handling is superior. The jury is definitely "in" on that one, and I freaking love it.

Who said rear sway bars weren't any good? ….Hello?

Wrong.

I suppose it would be easy to pop the lower links off where they mount to the shock bolts to quickly compare the difference between having just the front, or both. I never drove my car with just the front but the difference with bars was pretty substantial.

I swapped out angle drives on my speedo drive in the rear and the speedometer finally woke up. I can't seem to figure out what is/was wrong with my original drive, I can't make it "not work" off of the car, but for whatever reason, it won't work on the car. Weird.

I started to put metal back that had been "moved out of the way." The surgery started months ago with removal of the driver side jack point and continued with removal of cancer along the driver's inner long. After repair and replacement with good steel, an extra layer of (male) stiffness enhancing longitudinal from the donor car was overlaid, with its jack point attached. So now, back goes the sill piece and a small section of the rear quarter panel.Attached Image

And then, more stiffness enhancement from the donor car will be installed over the driver compartment longitudinal. The inner and outer firewall need about 1/2 inches of repair for about 8 inches inward. Some new floor pan, and the jack donut plate, and then the suspension stiffening kit back in the wheel well will finish just the driver side. Then repeat on the passenger side with a new battery tray. Hell hole solid, bottom of frame not!
