Sprayed plastidip on the end of an old lug tool so that it's a bit more gentle on the lug nuts.

so we had a bit of a problem-once the springs settled it rubbed just barely on the right side more than left but enough to cause some heat, thus the bubble of pain on the fender lip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

What type and size tire did you use on those 7x16 rear wheels? Have the rear fenders been modified at all yet?

I helped the new owner load the 914 on a trailer and watched it go to it's new home. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

So are you without a 914 now? - or have another one stashed away?

I am now without a 914 for the first time in over 40 years...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

They are going to need some more work, I'm looking at Chris Foley's flares for the rear maybe. They had been rolled before (the lip) and that was not quite enough. These are 205/55-16- 7" rear 6" front. Tehy were rubbing just barely. I would have been better off with 195's oh well!

Drove the 'BB' to do some errands yesterday. While I was getting gas, a gentleman from Germany asked a bunch of questions. He remembers seeing 914s on the autobahn way back when, but never drove one himself. He also said he and his brother have both submitted resumes to the Porsche Experience Center in Carson (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) - just a few miles away from here. Would be a nice gig if employees had access to free after-hours track time? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Hoping we get some rain this week end, the 'BB' really needs a good bath

Thought I'd put today's high temperatures to work for me . . .

Getting a pair of speaker housings from Mikey914's recent group buy (Thanks Mark! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) ) ready to go into the car. Scuffed them up, washed them down, degreased them, then hit them with some "wrinkle" paint. So far they look pretty good:

FWIW, they're much blacker than shown in the pictures.

They're curing in the back of one of my Volvo wagons as I'm typing this (it's like an oven in there). After that, they'll be filled with a pair of Rockford Fosgate R165X3s and hooked up to a more modern Sony unit (radio, CD, MP3, etc.). Maybe Terri will finally be able to hear the radio (I still prefer the Dellortos (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) )

Tested wiring on the ABM, took back out the CDR 220 I installed. Changed the oil on Dad's car. Drove with Buddy to the store to get Bologna for the yellow jackets.

Started to replace the carpet in my '73. Got as far as taking the car cover off. Then phone rang, and when I got back to start work the rain started. Figures, hasn't rained here in like seven years.

I tightened the fan belt on my 3.2. No I don't have a hole in my firewall. Super easy if you have right tools. It was squealing like a pig every time I jumped on the throttle.

Mother nature washed the dirt & dust off of the 'BB' today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pat.gif) - I didn't have to lift a finger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I had to drop some 'thingies' off at the shop, so decided to stay a while longer when it started raining. I resumed working on one of the 912 motors, but couldn't find the 1/2" to 3/8" socket adapter to torque head nuts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... so thought it would be a good idea to crate some boxes of parts that need to move to AZ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I ordered a bunch of parts from the Sierra Madre Collection today. The had sent an email out back on July 14th., that had some really good deals on selected 356, 911/912 and 914 parts. Today, I finally looked at their offerings and was happy to find they had a lot of items I needed/wanted.

The total amount in my shopping cart (w/tax & shipping) was $897.65, but the actual total only came out to $320.77 when all the dust settled (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

If you received their email and haven't looked at it, better hurry, the sale ends tomorrow (7/21) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

To order any of the sale items, you need to call the order in (discounts are not on the web site). Call (888) 986-4466

If you didn't receive their email, hurry up and shoot ma a PM with your email address - I'll forward the email so you can see the discounted price sale items.
