I installed new bilsteins in the rear with sleeve over C/O kit. Really interested see how much differently the car will handle, though I wont find out until I get the motor back in.

Removed the gas tank, front fuel lines, fuel pump and filter since they are all up front on the 75. Removed the blower box, grill and gasket, them removed the wiper rack. I washed out 40 years of DIRT!. I wanted to get everything clean before I started to remove the fuel lines. Then got after removing them to get ready to install the metal ones from Tangerine. Got the old lines out. Next up was the overhaul of the wiper rack and clean it up. It was running slow and stopping. Got that done and called it a day.

I'm curious how much better your wiper mechanism will work after you cleaned it up. Are there any serviceable parts that get replaced?

I went to cars & coffee in Aliso Viejo. Lots of nice cars and as usual mine was the only 914. Came home and wired my car alarm into the DME so it won't start when the alarm is on. Extra security, but I don't know how much it will help.

If your DME is in an accessible place, just pull the relay and put it in your pocket.

I did that to one of mine and it is like night and day. The shafts that the wiper arms fasten to were basically rusted into the tubes between the 2 big nuts, they were turning in a sort of rust soup. I cleaned everything up and sanded and polished the shafts, packed them with grease and put the whole thing back together. Now the wipers move twice as fast per setting than either of my other 2 cars. That sucks because now I have to do them.......one of these days. I bet most are like that to some extent because I never saw 914 wipers move this fast. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Lawrence, Forrest and I dropped the 2.0L out of my '67 911, then hoisted it into Lawrence's truck.

The transaxle had no problems and doesn't leak anywhere, so I decided to remove the motor without the transaxle - actually went pretty well considering this was the first time I'd ever attempted this method. It was good having three people to do it though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

However, we did run into some negative issues. We stripped the end splines on a triple square tool trying to remove two of the flywheel bolts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... I ground a 1/4" or so off the end of the tool while Forrest took a MAP Gas torch to the bolts - and we finally got 'em out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

After they left, I tied the rear of the transaxle up with a ratchet strap and removed the floor jack. Used the tops of the shocks stems as the suspension points.

The TO bearing had more slop than I liked, so removed it and pulled a new one from stock. I need to do a little clean up in the bell housing and re-grease a few places next. The flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate all looked good - need to order some new flywheel bolts and then I can slap this puppy on the replacement 2.0L motor.

As usual, forgot to take a camera to the shop (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Good advice!! The relay is behind the passenger seat. Easy to get to...

Discovered that the condenser I ordered was too small so I sent it back. I did manage to install a "fans on" indicator light in the cabin, finally!

About finished with the passenger seat. I think the hardest part is trying to get the headpiece backside to fit. I installed 914rubber 's seat heat kits on this as well. I have some foam repair on the drivers side so it won't be so easy.

I looked at the 'BB' (seen in the background) off & on while masking off the front end of Eileen, so I could repaint her bull-bar. This thing is great for pushing a Prius out of your way (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

Actually got to drive the 'BB' to the store for some last-minute groceries before supper time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)
