Went to start the 'BB' this morning and the right carb was leaking. Pulled the top to check the float, needle & seat - noticed that the choke ports need to be plugged. Pulled the top from the other carb and called European Motor Works. George will have 4 plugs machined and ready to pick up by high noon tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)
Had 2 doctor appointments (getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Then basted and painted a steering wheel adapter for my 'NONO' wheel (it's Not a 'MOMO') ... ...will pick up new hardware for it tomorrow ... |

Adjusted the valves today. Haven't done it in a long time and it's still a pain in the ass. While it's on the lift, I discovered the front wheel bearings need adjusted, so that will have to wait till tomorrow. I discovered 0 valve lash on ALL valves today. I couldn't get even the thinnest feeler gauge to slide in. That can be done with my engine but I can't tell if it it's beyond 0 lash or not so I made them all about .004. Started it up and sounds good. The best part is no oil leaks. (So Far). Lookin' forward to the ride to Arizona soon.

Stopped into a local after-market VW store to buy a cheap repro replacement window crank, but decided to pop for a set of some fancy chrome ones with a bunch of holes in them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ... also picked up some heater hose (just in time for summer) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) Received some parts from Mark (Mikey914), including a new seat adjuster handle for the driver's seat rail. |
