Oooh, nice top, Eric (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

At first glance, thought it was from a 911 Targa (but then again, I also need a new monitor)

Door panels are nice, Phil (911-ish) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Went to start the 'BB' this morning and the right carb was leaking. Pulled the top to check the float, needle & seat - noticed that the choke ports need to be plugged. Pulled the top from the other carb and called European Motor Works. George will have 4 plugs machined and ready to pick up by high noon tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

Had 2 doctor appointments (getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Then basted and painted a steering wheel adapter for my 'NONO' wheel (it's Not a 'MOMO') ...

...will pick up new hardware for it tomorrow

Adjusted the valves today. Haven't done it in a long time and it's still a pain in the ass. While it's on the lift, I discovered the front wheel bearings need adjusted, so that will have to wait till tomorrow. I discovered 0 valve lash on ALL valves today. I couldn't get even the thinnest feeler gauge to slide in. That can be done with my engine but I can't tell if it it's beyond 0 lash or not so I made them all about .004. Started it up and sounds good. The best part is no oil leaks. (So Far). Lookin' forward to the ride to Arizona soon.
Cheers, Elliot

Are you sure you don't have chrome moly push rods? They would be adjusted at zero lash.

If they're the stock aluminum rods, .004 should be is OK if the temperatures don't get too high.

I recently read a couple of good articles on push rods: Engine Builder site and ShopTalkForums

Between yesterday and today, I managed to completely rebuild my headlight assemblies, clean motors, fix electrical problems, and things associated with all of that stuff.

They're steel push rods and they can be set at zero but too much of a chance they'll be too tight. I used to set them at .003 but the damn feeler gauge is a little to thin and flexible (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

That's how I like my women ... thin and flexible (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Stopped into a local after-market VW store to buy a cheap repro replacement window crank, but decided to pop for a set of some fancy chrome ones with a bunch of holes in them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

... also picked up some heater hose (just in time for summer) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Received some parts from Mark (Mikey914), including a new seat adjuster handle for the driver's seat rail.
