listing is only an issue is listing (Craig's listing) so shocks and springs will solve the most minor of issue of a recent purchase. Good for you.

Got all my lights checked out and working and dropped her off to get all the wheel bearings replaced. Hopefully this will be all before Okteenerfest except for balancing the wheels. I will do that when I get her back to my shop.

Trailered mine from Tampa to Jacksonville. Put it in a storage unit and it will stay there until we find a house.

Finally cleaned and installed seats I got from Noel. I also removed the radio (i have no speakers), removed the driver and passenger side door rest and installed GT inspired door pull that I got from ebay for $1.00
i got carried away and started working on my headlight replacement into H4s but was not successful. retainer headlight screw were so rusted that i had to use vice grip to remove them. They are off now but will need replacement screws. |

Started it.
It's been sitting since 1984. I purchased it disassembled two years ago and have slowly made progress getting back together. We figured that today would be as good a day as any to give it a try. After gathering a group of guys to offer moral support around 6:30 or so, we realized that there was no spark, after cleaning the points we had spark but still no running...the distributor was one tooth off. We finally got it running...wait for it...at 9:14 pm! George Dayton Oh 71 914-6 It lives again... |

I drove it to work for the first time and it ran out of gas because the "new fuel gauge" still need fine tuning ( like not showning1/2 tank when its on empty) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) But it made it to work just fine. I had a ticking valve in the 914-6. I'm a glutton for punishment and didn't want to drop the engine to adjust the valves. So....I bought a mirror from Walgreens, used it to view the crank pulley, busted a bunch of knuckles turning the crank with a wrench, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, got under the car, got back up, and eventually finished the job. Oh, and add a bout a thousand 1/8 turns of the crank pully nut in between. Sealed it up, topped off the oil and went for an evening stroll. No more tick and now less discomfort driving it around.

Bought a new/old 1975 914 1.8L from California and it's being delivered today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) While we are not fans of the 1.8, we had to save the vehicle as the original owner painted it a fugly blue/green. It's original color is Palm Green Metalic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)!!! Attached image(s) |

Well the temperatures dropped enough that I decided to go to the shop for a few hours on Monday night.
I replaced the two bad head studs and started to reinstall the barrels on the 912 motor, but the ring compressor tool I have doesn't work with the pistons already secured to the rods, and I can't get the darn wrist pin circlips out. I tried skinny/narrow-tip flat blade screwdrivers and different types of picks, but had no luck at all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) ... What's the secret to removing these little buggers? The pic below is NOT my success story, just showing the type of circlip I'm up against. I finally gave up and ordered a different type ring compressing tool kit. I comes with six different sized bands, covering a range of pistons from 73 mm to 111 mm in diameter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I looks like it'll work for this situation, but it probably won't be here until the week end ... ... and today, I get an email reply from the guy I bought the Wilwood slave cylinder from. I purchased it on 9/4 and was supposed to be delivered by 9/9, so I sent him an email asking for shipping status. He says: "It's shipped...went to WV correct? And the 4th was on labor day weekend." SO, I replied back: "NO, if you look at my paypal information, it clearly shows my address is in California." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) Waiting for his next reply ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) |

OK, so it worked for me. But I do not know how to do that without having to go through You tube. Be patient, I am older than a lot of you. I really just wanted to post the actual video so you could just click on the play icon after seeing the image of the video.
