From the pix, that looks looks a pretty scary project (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
How long did it take you to do the conversion? ... I'm planning on a similar conversion, but using Engman's kit.
It looks scary, but it's not hard at all if you're methodical about it. Fortunately, my front harness is all bundled up in the passenger footwell while I finish cutting and welding on the body. I imagine it would be much more tedious trying to do this under the dash. It took me about 40 minutes. It's too cramped to label every wire while it's still attached to the old panel, so I pulled one wire at a time, labeled it... (upper 1, lower 1, upper 2... etc.) then removed the labels just before attaching each wire it to the new panel. |

i finally was able to finish my early doors to late window regulator mod. painted the doors, and the top, and all new window and top rubber and fuzzies from 914rubber.com thanks mark. and not one squeek or rattle to be heard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif). well ok, i have one tiny rattle. the knob of the window crank does jiggle a bit. but that will be an easy fix. on a side note, on my way to the auto paint supply, i stopped by the county dump for a quick weigh in. i finally broke the one ton mark. it the olympic blue flame weighed in at a meager 1980 lbs. 1/4 tank of fuel and me out of that car. and that was before the early door swap. next im out that way, i'll weigh it again.

Decided to change my steering wheel today, then while it was off thought it would be a perfect time to take my gauges out, fix my odometer, clean the dead spiders and cobwebs out of the face, and paint the trim piece.....so I did. Followed the intsructions on pelican got the odometer fixed...and cleaned out. Now just waiting for some paint to dry to put it all back together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Also made brakets and finally got speakers mounted in the stock grills, 4 speakers now sounds awesome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) What Rattles... Jeff |

Took my 5 year old Grandson for a ride with the top off and Booster Seat in place
He couldn't stop talking and smiling the whole ride. Crossed some R/R Tracks and the horn came on and I had to pull on the Horn rim to get it to stop. Got home and reattached the wire in the Horn ring but I think I might need a new rubber cup to fix it permenently. OR... get a smaller removable steering wheel with horn button in the middle. It would make it easier for me to get in and out of the car. I'm 6'2 and 62 (mentally much younger). |

Got the new head unit wired up and mounted in the dash. I removed my carpet and when doing so, I noticed a smell of mildew from the drivers side. Removed the sound pad and tar from the floors. Now very clean and painted. Just need to find a glove box, (Think i have a lead on a door) install the new carpet, install the new speakers and pods which are for some reason taking forever to get here.

I had tried this with tan carpets from my 76 and it didn't work but I thought I would try again with black carpets from the 73. The factory carpets fit like a glove so I thought why not. A few hours to remove the carpet, blast with hose to cleanse, rinse with hot water then soak in 3 gal of hot water, 1 cup of vinegar and one pack of Black Rit dye for 30 minutes. Less than $5. The flash really makes the carpet look lighter than it came out.

Checked the compression on all cylinders.
Sat and looked at my car because I'm waiting for a forum member to send me a left rear caliper which I purchased a week ago- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
