Look very nice. Is this just a glued dash (cap)? That's a brand new after market dash, from 914rubber.com ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I need to do the same. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) |

bought my 75 1.8 last aug. 2011, at first I thought my dash was almost perfect and orignal dash, but one of our member here when he visited my place, noticed it was a dash cap! but at least still looks very nice and clean. Just no idea where the previous owner got it. I did the same thing! I thought, "Hey, everybody has crappy dash's, but I lucked out, mine has no cracks!" Newbie mistake! But, hey dash caps rule! They fake out the ignoramuses. Whatever! I guess I could spring for the 914rubbers, but I'm cheap sob. Why bother! Whatever! |

That has got to be one of the most elaborate tower braces I've ever seen! Has anyone ever seen one like it or know anything about it? I see how it works (very sturdy!) but it looks slightly over the top considering how well our cars corner with even the basic suspension upgrades... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

I installed the Elephant Racing Spherical Bearings on the front suspension.
FWIW, they do NOT just slip into the steel front suspension crossmember. It required a little grinding to get the rear carriers to slip into the crossmember: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i366.photobucket.com-10819-1445190715.1.jpg) I had to do some significant "porting" of the holes in the crossmember to get these carriers to slip in. |

I installed the ignition key switch and housing that I received from fellow forumite Cabinetmaker. Things went smooooooothly with the aid of the Pelican Parts' 'How to...'
I took an iPad into the garage and followed the step by step guidance. One advice though, not mentioned on the Pelican pages: behind the steering wheel, there's a cover holding all electrical parts. It's secured by a allen screw. The housing itself can slide forward and aft for about 8mm, 1/3 of an inch. When securing the allen screw, do a trial fit with the steering wheel to be sure that the contacts of the s/wheel and the housing touch each other. The car as it was this morning: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i211.photobucket.com-18384-1445278591.1.jpg) I'll be adding side decals tomorrow: matt orange 'PORSCHE' with a 'Heuer Chronograph' decal in the same matt orange color. The car needs a respray in the future. Until that day, I am going to make use of the car's flaws and adapt an 'outlaw'-ish' style. Not sure about the front and rear bumber, though... body color or also matt orange... Menno |

Thank you for your positive comment. Point is that the paint on the car looks good from at least this distance! Come closer and you can see the orange peel, the sanding marks under the paint etc. So for the time being, this is how I want to use this 'disadvantage' as a vantage! Menno |

Now with matt orange side decal - until the respray is up (can take a few years)
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i211.photobucket.com-18384-1445368782.1.jpg) (The black stripe near the wheel arch is a left over piece of sticky tape ;-) ) Menno |

Had a great day for a drive. On the way home I had 5 "thumbs up", and several more rol down their windows to say nice car and one more who pulled up next to me to say nice car and "what year is that", and another who pulled up to tell me great 914, and he races 944's come by the shop some time.
I have not had the car draw that much attention before in one day! Must be because I put the W.A.S. Top on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Took it out for a spin through the foothills. Other than being totally gutless on the hills, it was pretty fun on the twisties through the canyon.
Now, I'm thinking of sending to the guys at Patrick Motorsports for a 3.6L conversion! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |
