Finally got the rear trunk shox installed today.

I was kinda scared to put the torsion springs back in there so this was the only solution.

I don't have to carry my grandma's bloom in the trunk anymore...

Wait what....wasnt the upper shock mount supposed to go onto the hinge part? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Well, I was able to close the hood w/o cutting the corners.

Changed the head light relay since the 40+yrs old one(date stamped 2 72) has been dead since last year. The new relay from the bird has an extra contact(#30) so needed a wire mod. Also added a fog light flasher module I guess it's from J-west. This is so cool! Now the fog lights can be used no matter where the head light switch position is. Furthermore, it can be flashed with the hands still on the steering wheel.

Met up with Bob "Saigon" and Dave "914Dave" for some excellent BBQ at Divine Swine located near Manheim,PA. A grey Saturday but a good run for the 914's. Great food and friends (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Started fall project of replacing control arm bushings and installing turbo tie rods. I actually removed the control arms over the weekend, along with crossmember. I finally
got the driver's side inner tie rod removed from the steering rack. I'd like to beat the engineer who designed that tie rod with said tie rod! In the end, a big ass screwdriver was the king..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) .....only one more to go!

Added some simple and inexpensive LED lights to my gauges and what a difference it's made. So much brighter than the factory bulbs.............even the new ones I bought.

Took yet another detour ...

Last night, I dug my Yamaha out from under the cover and was disgusted with how it looked ... so I started dismantling it.

Attached Image

I don't know how the discoloration got into the fenders, but they wouldn't come clean no matter what I tried on them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Attached Image

So today, sanded the rusty head-pipe and hit it with 2000° black BBQ paint, then sanded some of the plastic body parts and painted them with Rustoleum Sunburst Yellow (white was too boring)

Painting the rear fender tomorrow, but the last item, the fuel tank, is going to take a lot of prep time before it gets painted.

Then the motor will come out, the frame will get stripped, reinforced and repainted (low-gloss black) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
