Thanks to Noel's help, I made it home last night after Karah-Lyn and I traveled the 2600 mile journey home from LA.
Today, I stowed the car away until I get back from NY Friday.

Was a great journey!

Looking forward to the trip thread. BTW great buy, nice car! Next time we come up to Cincinnati to see my nephew and grand-niece&nephew, maybe we can get a peak at it. (Also his wife is from Middletown as well!)

Still trying to get my new to me '74 1.8 single carb conversion started. Was going to check points and learned I have a Pertronix setup. Sounds old fashioned that it was a surprise, I know. Anyway, will try again tomorrow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

I sold out by picking up the 6 conversion from the shop which installed a real 6 tranny (not the modified 4 it was running around with) because it needed a new ring and pinion. Getting the lash correct is an art form - and since I suck at art....

Also found that the driver's side heater flapper box was toast which was replaced. Now warm and toasty and my ears can stop ringing.

I will be replacing the front pads on the early S calipers to hopefully get more bite and less squeal.

Tried to start after recharging the battery. No luck.
Bought a decent spark plug tester to diagnose this week.
Maybe this Texas car is just not ready for MA winter.
Need to reconnect the choke, to ...

Happy Birthday!

I drove mine too, not my birthday, but 50+ degree's. Car ran great, found a previously unknown curvy road...

Drove the '73 down the coast and back with my 16-year-old daughter. Beautiful day. As always, met a few peeps that wanted to talk 914.

The '74 is stalling out when warm and coming to a stop, like at a traffic light. Maybe just cranking up the idle will help. I'll give that a shot.

Holy krap! You see the size of the wrist watch on that guy? I"ll bet he's a pilot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) You can always tell the real pilots.... Big watch, big leather flight bag and he's looking for somewhere to cash a $20 check. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Lawrence (Larmo) stopped by the shop for a while today - grabbed some fiberglass flares & rockers to try out. Also gave him a good 911 2.0L head for the motor he purchased from me a couple of months ago (they found a water-pitted head upon dis-assembly).

Then I set out to fabricate a new mounting bar template for the 2056/912 project. This one would use the original lower mount locations, but after having to cut to clear too many obstacles, I didn't feel it would be strong enough, so I scrapped it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I went back and remounted the first template I made last week, added a spacer between the fan hub and the crank pulley, and moved the 911 fan assembly further out from the cradle it sits in. Looks like the fan belt clears the bolts holding the mounting bar much better now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) ... will get some longer bolts for the pulley and put that issue to rest. Next ... cut a new bar from 1/8" mild steel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Brought this gem home. Bought it from the original owner, with full service records. $800. Pretty minimal rust, all things considered. Been sitting 5 years. Had it running and took it for a drive in 1.5 hours.
