As if I didn't already have a full plate, water started leaking into the garage from the rental house above.

I had to tear out a good-sized section the ceiling to expose the mess last night (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif)

Attached Image

A friend stopped by today and we got part of the problem taken care of ... but made a wise decision to replace all the old cast-iron drain piping with ABS too.

So, I'm off to the Lowe's or Home Depot to pick up all the materials shortly ...

Luckily, there were no cars or cycles (or anything else valuable) parked under there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

My phone never rang.......

looks like the leak was from the toilet above, bolts loose and the wax ring no longer worked. Cast looks good to me.

BOT I am close to pulling the 75 off the rotisserie and getting it over to you.

Removed the wheels of the 73 recently purchased to bring them to a tire shop and install my old tires for roller.
Not really sure how the 5 lug conversion was made.

Sorry, never thought to bother you, George.

#1 - Leaking shower valve seats - installed new valves.
#2 - Leaking (deteriorated) drain/trap piping - old one had to be cut out with a saws-all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif)
#3 - Toilet seal leaking - will be dealt with tomorrow.
#4 - Cast has multiple cracks and rust bubbles forming (not easy to see in the pix), and the old tamped-in joint seals leak ... so I decided just to replace all of it with ABS and never have to worry about it again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Our tenant is a family friend's son, and his step-dad is a plumber who lives a couple blocks away, so he was happy to come by and see what we could do to fix it.

I picked up all the ABS stuff at Lowe's, roughly $160. for everything. I'll eventually get around to building a removable soffit to cover the new plumbing when we're done - but this repair should last my lifetime (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

My 14 X 20 pre-fabricated garage arrived today, so a buddy and I pushed it into it's new winter hibernation place - engine is out for a rebuild. Just in time before the blizzard hits us tomorrow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Got the fuel tank out. The old cloth-wrapped rubber hoses from the return line back into the tank were soaked with gas; when I squeezed the hose to clamp it off, gas ran down my hands and arm.

Then what was supposed to be a pretty straightforward and quick removal of the old plastic tunnel lines became a challenge; PO had left the plastic return line in there, but replaced the line going to the engine with some kind of braided-metal-covered rubber hose which was also running through a hard plastic sleeve into an A-N type connector on each end bolted through the firewalls. The rigid plastic "sheath" made it the devil of a job to get free but finally worked it out:
Attached Image

Rubber inside the hose was rotted and weeping gas.

Feeling lucky that I've sorted this all out before disaster struck.

Also as a bonus PO left the original plastic engine fuel line inside the tunnel, clipped at both ends, just floating around in there.

Happy to have this all cleaned up. I feel like I'm finally starting to know this car...

That's pretty nice. What did it cost ya?

I need a 12 x 20 to fit between the back wall of my garage and the rear cinder block wall (for a workshop) ... that would free up two much needed spaces in the garage (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Thanks, I'm really happy with it. I had been planning on moving for a while to get more garage space, but I'm happy where I'm at and found this to be the best solution.

Price tag was $5,842, including tax. I did quite a few upgrades though as it will be my summer workshop. Insulated floor, vinyl siding to match the house, insulated man door and garage door, 30 yr architectural shingles, extra windows.

A bare bones T-111 12 X 20 from the same company will run about $3,800.

A ramp will be added in the Spring. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Just had to get it in there today - standard car ramps did the trick!

Not bad at all, Bob.

T-111 would be fine for the weather conditions we have out here. I'll have to see if there's any manufacturers out here, to keep transportation costs at a reasonable figure.

Work was closed today due to snow so I finally had some time to get my 914 running. I rebuilt the fuel distributor (CIS) and got it back together.

I was stoked so I took it for some victory laps in my field. Had a blast. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Today I cut up my engine lit to convert it to a quasi GT lid, took the better part of a day to get it cut and then bent correctly. Still have a bit of metal work to do before I can put in the grills. I will post the finished product in the next day or two. Well it wont be painted, but it will be mocked up.

Here is the before cutting pic
