Going to bleed brakes again... can't seem to get the "air" out of my rebuilt "proportioning" valve on rear bulkhead. I HATE spongy brakes!! Your 914 looks about as clean as your garage! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) |

Today i started stripping the front end ready for fender replacement followed by full respray. Also stripped the fuel injection off the replacement engine. Damn those tinware screws can be a nightmare to get off without damaging the tinware.
So one step closer to getting the shell out on the road to pressure wash prior to bare metal rub down. |

Engine out again..getting new head studs and a close look at the rest of the internals.
Gives me some time to work on the rest of the car. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-16789-1460891923.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/img.photobucket.com-16789-1460891924.2.jpg) |

Went for a quick drive after my SS fuel lines/new fuel pump/kinked hoses under the fuel tank odyssey. It's nice to be off the blocks and back on the road.
As I needed to remove the center console for the fuel line change and I prefer the look/feel of sans console, I'm enjoying my new found leg room. |

After slaving under hot 914's all day. I washed the car. Took the top off and drove the piss out of it on the twisties between Forest Grove and Newberg on the way home.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Time for another new lens cover for the phone. Oil temp when I got to Newberg. 220 on the Mainley. Straight up on the VDO. 14 miles. Yeah Baby ................. Then my kid stole it and is driving it to SE Portland to drop off a tent. |

I drove my car last in Aug '15 right before my daughter went off to school. When I parked it the right rear brake was dragging and the shifter was sloppy. I pulled the parking brake cable, it was difficult to move the cable. So I soaked it in Marvel Mystery Oil. Works 4.0. I went through the shift linkage, but couldn't find anything.
Brake is fixed but still need to work on the shifter. I'll replace the cup below the stick tomorrow. But, gorgeous weather up here in the Pac Nor'west. First drive of the season. Attached image(s) |

I took the rockers off to get a look at the outside longs as can be seen left side is good. Took a pick hammer and no Holes The right side looks the same took a pick to the whole side, everything is rock solid until I got to other that area of the long below the infamous hell hole. I picked the crap out of this area and popped the hole you see in the Long, and was able to start a small hole just below the jack point. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) I guess the news couldn't be all good! It will give me a reason to get the wire feed out. Still thinking its very solid for a 42 year old vehicle with the original factory paint. |

what I did YESTERDAY was decide to chase the cutting in and out I was getting - I knew my FI grounds were a bit loose and have tried to tighten them, but one kept coming off , so I took the 3 prong spade connector off and cleaned it up sanding off old oil grease and stuff, then soldered the connectors and put back on took for a drive. all good-for about 5 miles then similar issue - so after getting back to the garage I began to search - I could see my A/F meter change when I pulled on the harness, and isolated it to the wires going to the #1 injector and that was where I had to stop-
so I either have a bad injector contact , plug or wire- but moving that wire would straighten it out smooth idle, ------- hate to say this but it seemed like it was coming about 3 inches back from the connector, my harness was new a couple years ago from Jeff B. I hope I don't have to pull it to have it set back to be fixed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |
