I feel like Goldie Locks and the Three Fuchs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
So in my never ending quest to want to have the best of both worlds put 15" Fuchs on my car today. This has been a struggle for me as I want the best in performance but also want to keep the car vintage looking. I feel like Goldie Locks and the Three Fuchs. When I bought my car it came with 14" rims with 205/60/14 tires mounted. These tires were too small and caused the speedo to be off as much as 5 MPH ant 70 MPH. I changed to 16" fuchs as I wanted the best grip for street and an accurate speedometer. 16 X 6 with Toyo R1R Proxies 205/55/16. These gripped better than expected. Now I wanted a more vintage look so today I mounted some fresh Al Reed 15" Fuchs with 195/60/15 Bridgestones RE960 pole positions. 14" fuchs... 16" Fuchs... 15" Fuchs... |

I feel like Goldie Locks and the Three Fuchs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) All 3 wheels look great, but I have to agree with your son (?) ... the 15's look the best (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif) ... 15" Fuchs... I kick myself for selling off all my sets of 15's (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) |

Too keep the earth round, I am going from 15" to 16"
Anyways, this afternoon this wheel still had what was left of the factory anodizing. Some harsh cleaners were used so there were spots that the anodozing worn off. 2 applications of oven cleaner, scrub with a scotch brite pad inbetween and the anodizing is off the lips. The oven cleaner vaporized the rattle can finish, but left the factory paint - which is good becuase it is stil anodized on the centers. Start with 80 grit to knock out all the dings from tire mounting and kicked up rocks, move to 100, 220, 320. I ran out of finer paper a while ago and the paint shop is closed. So off to HD get some 320 & a buffing wheel set, arbor & appropriate polishing compounds. Anways, here's the result. I know I will get finer paper and re-sand to get all the scratches out, but I just had to see what the buffing would do. SHAZAAAM! Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Not the part covered by the tire when mounted. It looks black. To solid for just be brake dust ( at least from the pic as far as I can see.) Looks nice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I havent painted it yet, the pictures are out of order. When I do paint them I'll paint the inside of the barrels and the front of the spokes - no paint on the backside of them

Do you plan on polishing the inside of the barrels or painting them to match the spokes? You can do some pretty cool things to the Fuch's |
