Yesterday, I drove it to work- just replaced the fuel pump and ran great! Best since I've owned it probably. Might be set a bit on the rich side so a bit more test and tune before the trip to NC in 2 weeks- stopped by the shop to talk to Bob's body metal specialist for paint prep after the trip- saw a few Porsches in the garage, no 914's at this time-- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Took a trip to Hood River to attend the Hood River Fly In.
Grumman Wigeon, my Grandpa flew one of these for 25 years before I was born. First time I'd been able to touch one. Ours is in a museum in France. All I have is a couple pictures. It was a great day. |

Case cleaned, crank polished and balanced, flywheel resurfaced, rods re-bushed & balanced ... I'll be hooking up with Richard (Type 4 Unleashed) next week to start assembling the new motor for the '71.
We're going from 1.7 to 1.9L with a 1.8L cam. I guess I should start looking for some 911 swivel-foot adjusters again ... EDIT: Found and purchased a set (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) |

Over the weekend I had put some time into the car. Made some brackets and mounted the Hella Horns and Pilot 4.5 driving lights, added mesh grills, added a black porsche crest to the hood,on the inside drilled out my new track mats to accomodate my 5 point harness set up,spun my tach installed powdercoated seat hoop and shift knob, re did chrome delete between dash and dash pad. One of the PO's did the cool oil pressure gauge mode.

Drove it this morning to post offiice, AAA Dmv and barbershop and then in the afternoon after picking up the kids from skul I started at 3pm removing the muffler, heat exchanger, valve cover, clutch and speedo cable, tranny
ground, starter, cv axle, transmission and front tin behind the fan shroud. And then someone mentioned my car will be on jack stand on the day of 914 (Sept 14). Happy 914 Day |
