Nice one Eddy! I drove over to Arizona to the Grand Canyon to test out my carb tuning / got the jets right and wound it up on the open freeway. Cant beat this time of year in a heat-delete 914!!
The semi-dirt road in a pic or two parallels the I-10 out in western AZ/ Eastern Cali. Cheers Sidebar: I picked up four fuked fuchs in AZ and took them to the shop in SoCal this morning / bead blasted both sides, masked and painted one to see if this is the wheel look for the 3.0 GT styled car I am working on. Who Knows..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Attached image(s) |

I thought: I should clean the top of the engine off.
Then, this would be easier if I dropped the engine, then those tins are in the way. Did I go too far? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i366.photobucket.com-10819-1480230017.1.jpg) Thought this shot was cool: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i366.photobucket.com-10819-1480230017.2.jpg) While the heads are off I am getting a valve job, new exhaust valves (old sodium filled were giving up) and dual springs. Now I can bump up the rev limiter to 6500-6800. |

What size engine is this and what cam are you running? It's a 2.0L (2056) with a webcam 86b. I decided to break it down after ~2 race seasons. Other than a low compression test and questionable exhaust valves, it looked like brand new inside. Even with no headgaskets, 9.2:1 CR and revving the shit out of it (I had it to 7k a couple times accidentally before I got a rev limiter) , I saw no evidence of head leaks. |

Been over at Carey's shop the last couple of weekends, getting it roadworthy.
Carey and the SuperInLaw are crazy knowledgeable and accommodating. I wouldn't attempt do all this without their expertise and guidance. Thanks guys you rock!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Already pulled the motor and transmission last week. And this weekend found NO RUST under the rockers!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Just a lot of dirt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Found lots of it under the battery tray though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) Passenger floor pan and outer firewall needs addressing as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) Got to work with the cut off wheel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) and made a nice order for Restoration Design and Pelican. Should be here next week Already had the braided brake lines in the stash. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Next job is to repack the CV's and new seals in the leaky engine and transmission. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) And lots of cleaning. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Tried to repair a paint reaction on the rear bumper. It's a small area approx 2" square at the most.
Rubbed it down. Panel wipe, primer and it reacted again. Rubbed it down again. Water wiped and primed again. Same reaction. Rubbed it down again. Dry wiped with dry tissue and yet again it reacted but slightly different. Have walked away for tonight. Tomorrow i'll speak to a paint guy and show him the pics. Also put the roof latches in a bowl of coke to work it's magic on the rust. |

Now i'm on the fence as to finish//// the all pecan hull blasted look has an appeal to me in that they are super easy to take care of - simply reshoot w/ tire on to get back to the look of the left hand wheel. The one on the right in the photo is how I received them.... Then again , i may go with all black centers and blasted rings / the GT's apparently had no standard finish but very little chrome if any on their wheels in the old days.... Took the day off from Rothsport and headed out to North Portland to pickup my hot water pressure washer. I took it in for a once over.
She now works like she was brand new. It was then time to cut the embedded, cooked and cracked on grease off Mikes engine and tranny. Victim #1 Victim #2 It even blasted off the undercoating on the tranny. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I really like the look of the blasted wheel. Why did you use walnut shells instead of glass beads? I know there's a good reason. I always thought the walnut shells were for removing paint from metal panels but what do I know? |

Played with my new 40watt Chinese import laser cutter/engraver.
1st test part on anodized aluminum tonight. Not perfect, but it was my 1st time playing with an EPS file and Corel Draw (student/home version) Also laser etched some hardboard with the 4 lug modular wheel center I drew a few months back. About 4" in diameter. I like the crisp lines on the anodized part (scrap part laying around) |

Installed one of CFR Racing's catch can. Excellent quality and a perfect fit. Instead of a filter exhausting to outside air (and back into the cabin for heat (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ), the bypass air is directed back into the intake.

Took the day off from Rothsport and headed out to North Portland to pickup my hot water pressure washer. I took it in for a once over. That has to be the greasiest engine and trans I've ever seen (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif)She now works like she was brand new.
