Made some parts for the "other" car, tripped on some parts for the 914 in the garage!
Steel adapter to put Mustang Cobra spindles on the Volvo, the round part is from Speedway, only $10 so cheaper to buy. Will TIG it together. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Moved the brake valve on the firewall out of the way for the 6-mount and did a brake bleed then mounted the Mocal thermostat for the oil lines... way too boring for pix.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) but a 914 historic pix is always good.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Used a razor blade to remove the Pennsylvania Emissions Stickers off the inside drivers side of the Windshield! Took the Pennsylvania Tag off the rear Bumper.
Installed the new Pennsylvania ANTIQUE HISTORIC VEHICLE TAG on the rear bumper and put the permanent Antique Auto Pennsylvania Registration document in the glove box. No more annual State inspections or Registration Renewals ever again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

Somehow a USB cord looks out of place in a 914... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I milled my Turbo valve covers for the clearance noted earlier by those with -6 insertion issues. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Pulled the top off and went for a mid afternoon fuel burn. The car ran like a champ. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Still knocking out some smaller (non-car) projects
Have a desert camping/biking event coming up next weekend and I had to rebuild the carb ... ... and repaint the fuel tank (too many wrinkles and runs the first time) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... and of course, a flock of gnats decided the yellow paint was their cup of tea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) ... also, started reassembling the electric pit bike (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biker.gif) ... wife says it looks a lot better now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) Looking forward to the impending sunny/warmer weather to start working on the car(s) again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Dinkin' around with the street car, trying to figure out a starting problem (see other thread)...get about as far as I want and put it on the lift to get it out of the way for a coming snowstorm (wife gets priority on that side...)
Get it up there and decide to do a basic visual check, haven't checked it out in a while...look all around, wipe the oil drip off the bottom so the wife's car doesn't get smacked, push here, shake there, grab the shifter rod and move it arou....wait a sec...something's not right... Pop off the front boot to check the front bushing...and I can't check it out because it's not there. The front bushing is not worn out, it's missing! I've been focusing on the race car so much that I've not even checked this one out...wiggle the rear part and the rear bushing is about toast too, and it has been that way for a while because the shaft has visual wear. Oh well, I bought two shifter bushing kits for this very reason, so why not? An hour later (I didn't do the coupler bushings, they look fine and I'm feelin' lazy) and I've got the bushings replaced and the shifter feels [b]tons[/s] better. That rear shaft is still buggered from wear, so I'll use the one from the race car once I replace that with the Tangerine kit some time later this summer. So today was 914 day. Not a bad day at all. |
