Adjusted the valve clearances. Will likely have some more power now, since all the valves will now close, instead of just some of them.

Completed the left/side ignition installation and did a test drive Nice!! Are you going to remove the ignition switch on the column? In time, yes; i' m keeping it as a backup for now. I think I showed you the custom clam shell Jeff Hines made. The good news is the car started up ! BTW: After I enlarged the fog light switch hole I test fitted that 911 ignition assembly. It will work without cutting the arm. The steering wheel lock would not work without doing the complete change over |

Drove it! And with my newly cured oil leak, it actually didn't look like my car was on fire.

Pressure washed and de-greased the transmission case while it is out of the car waiting to be connected with a new 2.2L upgrade replacement. Got all the engine oil leaks, trans fluid grime and road grit from 42 years off of it. Trying to decide if I should repaint it or leave it in its natural state. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) It's magnesium and will corrode if it's not coated with the original cosmolene type stuff or perhaps some good paint. I guess you could clear coat it. That would actually look good I think. Satin finish clear. |

Cleaned the tranny and resealed the output flanges and shifter seal. Then reinstalled the Rich Johnson bellcrank and new pulley...
I am going to clearcoat it with wheel paint clear / about as good as one can do on a Mag case.... I also ran garden hose from the front cooler to the Mocal thermostat at the firewall to confirm the two lengths of AN 12 SS braided hose. One was 139" and one was 141" due to the relationship to the fittings at each end. Sidebar: Even as small files, the pix rotate!! I applied the satin clear in two coats / will make subsequent cleaning easier maybe...
I also discovered that one of the 911 engine case studs was too short to allow a nut and washer to be torqued thereon / something to measure for prior to mating the tranny to the engine.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Attached image(s) |
