Nothing on the 914(s) again today ... however, I replaced a broken tail light and removed and straightened the rear bumper on 'Ilean'.
Both items were damaged on my way home from a No. Cal trip last year, when the L/R tire unexpectedly blew out @ 85mph S/B on the I-99 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blowup.gif) Since spring time is upon us, and folks are starting to make plans for their upcoming summer vacations, I need to put her back up on the market soon ... so priorities had to take place (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

I need to repaint mine the next time the drive train comes out ... the gray paint I used was rated for 500° but it's flaking off (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Next time, it'll be 2000° and black (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Yesterday I finalized the oil system from front to back / all in AN12 on SS braided hose. FYI the Summit Racing AN-12 screw in type fittings verses hose clamp fittings are very easy to assemble given a chop saw w/ vice and a drop or two of oil along the way. I also bead blasted and painted my headers with 2000 degree paint that will not last forever but looks great prior to initial fire up.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)
The pictures here show where I would like to have the three cables under and away from the headers. How did the factory do this - maybe via a bracket - but how to do this without using a case bolt is the issue (can you say oil leak?)? Or how others have secured cables? I know it wasn't with zip ties.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I also firesleeve covered the brake cables that are near the headers. All new hardware on the studs and muffler end of the headers too... / Today is finalize the accelerator linka adjustments from pedal to carb butterflies. Awaiting Perry's artistry on the wiring harness and then it is time to oil it up and fire it up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) |

Another beautiful day in So. Cal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I did some additional body pounding on 'Eilean' and shot a primer coat yesterday ... finished up the final touch-up painting today. Reinstalled the tail lights and rear bumper with new impact strip and end caps too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) Notice the license plate begs for a 4-cylinder (Subi) 140HP boxer motor? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Now, where did I stash those 'FOR SALE' signs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) With 'Eilean's ills cured, now I can start focusing on the 'BB' again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I received the 3rd. (and final) quote today for dismantling, transporting and reassembling the 4-post lift I purchased from Mr Burton last week.
Made the decision and have scheduled the move date for this coming Saturday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Woo-hoo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-7414-1491060225_thumb.jpg) |

I picked up a 1.8 liter engine off craigslist that was taken out of a running car. The price was amazing for a running engine. It got better when I went to pick it up. It included everything but the transmission. Engine, tins, complete injection system with ecu and harness, complete exhaust with stainless heat exchangers were all part of the deal.
I would normally question the truth of a claim that it came out of a running car but I trust the word of the guy(s) who sold it to me. I bought it from Patrick Motorsports. It was pulled out of a car that got one of their 6 conversions. It is a good day. I want to throw out a huge thank you to the guys at PMS for helping me get it loaded in my vehicle. |

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars. i'll start, about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today? yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup. what did you do to your 914 today? I started the install of steel GT flares today. |

Just finished prepping the spot where the lift will be installed tomorrow.
I had the 'BB' on ramps in this spot to do the hyd. clutch thing, but it is what it is ... so we moved it out of the way. Doing the job on the lift will be much better (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) It's Miller time now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) |

Scored some free seats off CL this morning. Thought they were VW Rabbit Recaro from the pics but the seat brackets are stamped Ford (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
Need a good cleaning, a few patches and new elastic straps underneath but totally doable for my 914. |
