Tinkered with the components for the clutch conversion ... also ordered a case of Brad Penn 20/50W (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com-7300-1491783047.1.jpg) I think $82. was a good price - with no tax & free shipping (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WKH0V...=UTF8&psc=1 |

While helping out on the welding on Keith's new Magnaflow muffler fabrication, I was able to finish the wiring of a dash switch (back lit old school Hella) to acitvate my front oil cooler fan already installed. The 10 fan pulls air thru the cooler shroud at a very substantial rate and will assist on those desert runs to Scottsdale in the summer heat of Arizona. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Today the Urban Workshop is closed so I will go out to my mailbox, sit in a folding beach chair next to it and wish a wiring harness into it........ then it is off to the races!
And Perry: Dont feel like I am pressureing you in any way just because your wiring harness is the final piece of this months long process and is the only hang up to my finishing the conversion before I die,.... I was going to sit in that beach chair anyway....having nothing else to do until the mail shows..... ... My project stalled (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... whilst moving the M/C to get the pedal assembly out, the feed lines popped out and drained the reservoir (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Today was wiring day 101.
After I completed a 24 sheet set of Design Review Board drawings (boring crap to the 9th degree.. but possible in the Urban Workshop computer lab..),... I plucked the VDO temp gauge (for sale in FS) and plucked the 914-4 gas/ emergency etc. gauge / replaced with the 911 oil Press/Temp gauge.. Which triggered me to have a bundle of four (as of yet) unused wires from engine bay to under dash with length to spare on each end - for senders on the engine or fuel mixture gauges,.. etc. So I wrapped four wires of correct gauge and different colors with half inch cloth tape with separation per factory spec... and fished this from from engine bay to under dash behind the gauges / just in case.... Perry Kiehl twisted up the ringer on his oak clad phone box on column 7 in his 10,000 SF shop in Tennessee and Aunt Bea plugged me into a crackling connection to SoCal... After a few minutes he asked very pointed and focused questions on locations of various senders, brains (not mine) and other things to perfect his harness to my car and engine set up/ the harness being conjured in the misty woods infused with the aroma of Night Blooming Jasmine in the Tennessee Woodlands. How does he do it? the Man is a Genious.. More on that after the harness comes in. Of course, in Tennessee, a harness is usually hitched to a warmblooded animal... not a 914. If all goes well, the pressure is back on me...... er,... My favorite place to be.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

Replaced the rear reflector and back to stock. The reflector was attached with double sided tape so no holes had to be drilled. It's gonna need a new home....
Fortunately I put the emblems in a jar while not in use. Attached image(s) |

Looks great Jim! What rear spoiler do you have? Good question... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I bought it ten years ago; sat on the idea of installing it for 3 years; drove with it for 7 years. Think I bought it either from Pelican or at the G & R swapmeet. It's the common FG spoiler you see on 914s. |
