Dropped of my car at the shop today to have Forrest's engine dropped in place of my original 1.8L. It will be nice to see what happens when I have an extra 50+ HP added (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Forrest, Thanks for all your help. Glad we could keep it all local Is that a CSP linkage setup for your carbs? |

Cool. Does wireless mean it uses batteries? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I called Scott and got an email back that my bumpers are being sent out for chroming. Also the only remaining car in front of my car (I thought it was behind my car....) a '73 S, is due to be gone in 3 weeks making my car the one to get worked on and hopefully at least 3 days per week then. I am getting seriously anxious about seeing my car come together. I knew its turn would come soon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Picked up car from mechanic after its yearly checkup. Adjusted valves and new vc gaskets; checked timing, dwell angle, ignition and FI components; changed oil, cleaned strainer (added new seals) and replaced push rod tube O-rings (Viton). Runs great! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
Also ordered some clear side markers from 914rubber and a Dansk OEM-style muffler. I'll be giving away the old Bursch if anyone cares. |

Installed the Rennshifter.
So with the Tangerine firewall bearing, bronze shift console bushing, Dr. Evil rebuilt trans, and now this Rennshifter it should shift pretty good. And the rear window. I know you can't see it but there is a window there. Been doing a lot of work lately, I probably should update my build thread. Getting real close to being able to start it. |

Installed a pair of new sun visors, painted the ugly tail light reflectors and installed new euro lenses ...
... (on the Ghia) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Also ordered a COA for my '66 912 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Oh, and I passed by a couple of INOP 914s several times throughout the day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I was toying with the idea of tossing a spare rebuilt 912 (616) motor in this one ... but I can get a freshly rebuilt 1776 dual port T1 long block for around $1600. (maybe even less from EMW)? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ... and transfer most of the parts I need over from the stock T1 motor.
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/det....php?id=2023686 Probably around the same HP & torque, and I wouldn't need to fab a bunch of stuff to make it work either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |

Ordered these Glass-Action fiberglass speaker pods for the Ghia - don't want to cut holes in the door panels. These install in the front kick-panel area and will accept up to a 6.5" speaker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Glass-Action is located in Prescott, AZ and they make a lot of fiberglass stuff for various VWs. |
