My SBC 914 has been in storage for 18 months. Pulled it out of the trailer put gas in it and it fired right up. Didn't even charge the battery, Now to wash it.

watch out for ...Codes...cant run power in conduit here in Washington..have to use under ground romex and be 18" deep or better......

thats odd. you would think conduit would protect it better than direct burial cable.

busy day. i made and installed all of my thermocouples.

Sounds like he's already gone and done it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

In my area, underground electrical needs to be a minimum of 18" below grade. It can be in gray electrical PVC, but the the stub-ups need to be Galvanized-Rigid-Steel.

Low-voltage can be direct burial, but I always run conduit and toss in a spare or two, since the trench is typically the hard/expensive part.

Hey Brant,

The underground conduit run is all PVC. Install a 90 degree up sweep at each end of the run. Then use a threaded PVC coupling or threaded PVC adapter for the transition to GRS (all done below grade).

I typically screw a GRS threaded coupling onto a PVC threaded adapter, then glue the PVC adapter onto the top of the sweep.

Then screw in the stub up and wrap heavy duty electrical tape around the transition and up the stub a few inches above finished grade level.

Got 2 quotes to install a panel in the garage and both quotes were >$3k (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) which I couldn't do (CSOB), so a friend with a truck towed a trencher rented from Home Depot (~$180ish)

funny enough...
there is a small pile of grey plastic conduit stacked at this house when I moved in.

I did a little research and it looks like 24inches is the code around here also

I bought a large box of romex, and mark just explained the stub ups..

trenching is in my near future.

I've got a friend who is a contractor. He has helped me wire 220 in the past. I'll pay him but its reasonable and well worth it. and I'm a good grunt worker, so digging holes should be within my abilities.

so sick of running extension cords to my shed every time I have to do something

Ditto on Doc Evil's Richmond tranny clinic. I think I walked away the honor of needing the most parts - 3 synchro bands, 2 dog teeth, 1 slider, and a shaft bearing.

Had a good time, learned a few things, and brought my son to help out.
