Did you do it by yourself? put the drain tubes on last and while it seems incorrect make sure to hook up the fan speed/vent cable before mounting it. also I would recommend using some kind of trim glue on the rubber seal and let it setup before trying to slip the box into place. it's a tight fit and will for the most part of 3 hours keep slipping off while you are pushing the box into place (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) . also make sure to buy a new clip for the cable because the old one will break when you try and reuse it. other than that... 7th circle of hell (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) |

I got the bracket and Wilwood 260-1333 slave cylinder installed and adjusted on the 'BB'. I had to drill out the little block that pulls the throw-out bearing lever to fit the 5/16" shaft on the slave cylinder.
I'll have to hold off on the hydraulic hose & fittings until next week. I have to source some different AN fittings than what I had for the Honda M/C (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Earl's Performance should have everything I'll need, and they're only a few miles from home ... but closed during the w/e. |

No leaks! All AN fittings and other sundry pipes and clugeations are low pressure tested. Awaiting carbs from the 914CarbGuruDotDontGetNA:miles:hurry guy...
In my idle time today, I worked on my mold for casting Carbon Fiber back pads to cover the hatch kit that I am making and sending out occasionally. I made ample progress. A really generous guy here on the boards offered to send me a cut out of a firewall as a template to start with. Then I took a torch to it to de-glue the seam sealer and random spray adhesive from it. a few rustations were welded and ground smooth. Then to add metal for the fit to the cabin firwall. Its gonna be a high performer if I can work out the differences in application between DOT late and earlier cars like mine... Previously, my friend at UC Berkeley offered to use this firewall as a project some months back / for a trace evidence thing / and she scraped hairs and carpet fibers from the glue and metal of the firewall for analysis. I am not, at this time, willing to say who donated this piece of 914 firewall history to my project efforts, but early analysis results in from the forensics lab at UCB indicate that whomever owned the doner car, was, as BB King put it, " Fa Fa Fa.. A Love Man!" The fabrication conundrum is not in the gumbo of the miscellaneous DNA coating the tin. It is in that of the difference between early and late firewall shapes / and retractable seat belt hardware is the issue... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) The two do not mate / unlike the host of prior owners of the doner firewall car.......... Took the engine apart some more. I removed the last of the oil and although very dirty there was no metallic sparkle. Also started to degrease the outside of the case as it's quite grimey. Looking good so far.
I sourced a correct 914 flywheel and that is now on for trial fit purposes. Think I'm going to fit new rings to the existing pistons as there is naff all scoring in the barrels. I may have actually bought a decent engine. |

I spent yesterday afternoon cutting between the 5 center holes in the front trunk. The "snout" is now open on the body, and the cutout on the front valance is also done. I used a spare engine grille mesh piece for the front rock guard protection, I think it turned out alright. I'm going to source a narrow body fiberglass piece eventually.
Little by little. Welding the louvered front floor pan and oil cooler mounts in this week, then all oil lines, fuel pump, and oil cooler will be mounted and done. Also ordered McMarks oil line holder/grommet which I hope to get welded on too. I can then move to the rear of the car and finally get the 2.7 ready to install. |

Drove it on GMR today. I think that it was Mothers Day there were less motorcycles up there. It was a blast. If everyday was like this.....wouldn.t need to drive on any other road in a La "Lucky" I love that drive. |

Nice work Larmo / Keep at it. I have some parts to toss into your truck for the June 2 drive / for Kent - and I am beginning to understand why a Man of his broad and seasoned acumen in the world of brass pipe and plumbing would choose a Suby conversion verses the hellish vortex of EAP's Decent into the Abyss - as we are currently swirling in
Update: I am presently zip-tied to a Rotary lift in a dingy dripping wet smelly basement festooned with alligator clips squeezing various body parts unbeknownst to the weak of political fortitude as I am held hostage by the Weber Guru for yet into next weak. PMO may have something here...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Happy Mother's Day mothers.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

I am in the early stages of making a mold for a carbon fiber full cover back pad / that is, a CF piece that will cover up the hatch and tidy up the interior on our 6 cars.
I am a ways out but interest is growing in this piece. I am working on a piece that will fit in early or late cars with seat belt retractors. My car is early 71 so the challenge is to make it a business like CF piece easy to remove for service thru the hatch but looking good and sound deadening when in place. Everyone loves Carbon Fiber / and although they don't know exactly why, they only know carbon fiber fabrication is costly, cool looking, and serviceable. Like a lot of things we all want. Any interest here in the same piece? Now worries if not. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Pix to follow |

i drove it to run some errands , nice to have a tight steering colum again! trying to decide whether to drive the 914 or the boxster for the DE at Robeling Road next month! any advice? i have to say after driving both cars today i think the 914 is way tighter in the corners , but it does have Sport bilistein shocks, and boxster is stock, just feels soft in comparison.

I purchased the ArmorAll AA255 Wet/Dry Vac for my 914 yesterday so I could easily vacuum it without having to lug out my household vacuum or a much larger shop vac. Works well. Nice small size, yet holds a lot. https://www.bestadvisor.com/best-car-vacuum-cleaner
