I purchased the ArmorAll AA255 Wet/Dry Vac for my 914 yesterday so I could easily vacuum it without having to lug out my household vacuum or a much larger shop vac. Works well. Nice small size, yet holds a lot. https://www.bestadvisor.com/best-car-vacuum-cleaner Looks good... and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) |

Monday: Picked up the AN-3 parts from Earl's ... $25. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Yesterday, I attempted to run a pull wire through the clutch cable tube ... got it inserted in the front, but it isn't showing up in the engine bay - the tube doesn't pass through the rear fire wall like it's supposed to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... just one more of the little things that one or more of the POs hacked on this car. I have corrected most of the issues, but every now and then I run across something else that isn't right. Slowly but surely I'll have them all sorted out. |

Take a piece of fishing line and tie a small piece of t shirt material on the end then use your shop vac to pull the line thru. You can substitute kite string but if the area is rough it will want to hang up. Once this is thru you can tie it to the an-3 line and pull it thru:beer2: |

I spent yesterday afternoon cutting between the 5 center holes in the front trunk. The "snout" is now open on the body, and the cutout on the front valance is also done. I used a spare engine grille mesh piece for the front rock guard protection, I think it turned out alright. I'm going to source a narrow body fiberglass piece eventually. Little by little. Welding the louvered front floor pan and oil cooler mounts in this week, then all oil lines, fuel pump, and oil cooler will be mounted and done. Also ordered McMarks oil line holder/grommet which I hope to get welded on too. I can then move to the rear of the car and finally get the 2.7 ready to install. Can you post pictures of your front mount oil cooler setup. I'm doing the same on my car soon. I also am cutting the engine lid screen for the front coole. I thought I was being original. Ha ha! |

Once this is thru you can tie it to the an-3 line and pull it thru:beer2: I wished it was that easy, but unfortunately, the rear end of the clutch cable tube doesn't protrude through the firewall and into the engine bay. I have a #14 solid (white) conductor entering the tube from the front opening, but it has hit something and won't go any further. Inserting an inspection camera doesn't yield an image of the (white) conductor balling up near the back of the tunnel, nor an image of the other (rear) end of the tube. To be honest, at this point, I'm wondering if the cable hasn't ran through the tube since before I owned the car. THOMAS installed a new cable back in 2009, but whether or not the cable traveled through the tube is at question now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) The image below is what the firewall looks like. Note the clutch tube does not pass from the tunnel through the firewall - and a piece of steel has been bolted to the firewall where the tube is supposed to be. Looking through the hole, all you can see is open expanse inside of the tunnel (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) |

Take that rear access cover off and look inside the tunnel for the missing tube, gap or obstruction.

Yep, did that. I had stuck the camera down through it to try finding where the tube ended - with no luck (it's hard to maneuver the camera head once inserted into a void ... it wasn't designed to perform colonoscopies) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
I finally got a view through where the wiring harness goes back down into the tunnel and saw the white #14 tucked in the lower right hand corner of the tunnel, but still couldn't see where it exited from the tube. I inserted a really small (1/4" diameter) flashlight through the hole in the firewall, made a hook to grab the #14 and again, with the help of the camera, pulled it towards the hole, then grabbed it with a pair of long forceps and pushed it towards the flashlight and through the firewall. Next, I inserted about 8" of the #14 inside the ID of the AN-3 hose and taped it up real good, then started pulling from the front bulkhead. Something within 6" or so beyond the firewall was inhibiting the pull, as it took several attempts to finally get it passed whatever the hang-up was. Once it did, it was smooth sailing from there on (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The end result? ... success, finally (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Front bulkhead ... and these were the some of the tools needed to accomplish this task This hydraulic thing better work, because I don't want to do this again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Bought new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires for my car. The old ones were ten years old. Finally finished installing the MB911 1 5/8" heat exchangers on my car. Very noticeable throttle response and power over the stock six heat exchangers. Ben was awesome with support and feedback. Love the heat exchangers. Glad I did the group buy. Killer deal!!

What kind of shift linkage is that? Never seen that mod before... (915 transaxle?) Yep it's Martin Botts 916 kit. The shifter is a 915 Rennshift, CFR 915 adjuster, PMS firewall bearing and make shift, shift rod. For more info, check out Martin Bott's 916 kit thread in the members vendor section. I just pilfered what other people have done. |

I'm putting the spare receiver on the front bulkhead. Can somebody measure the diameter of a 15" space saver tire for me?

I know, I thought of yours, but I knew it wasn't a 15"
Just found it.....The total diameter of both the 15 and 16 tires deflated is 20.250 inches, either will fit on the front bulkhead. |
