Today I installed all new: flywheel, 228mm clutch, and pressure plate, all torqued and tidy. A throwaway shower cap is a perfect cover too, to keep rust away from new parts down here by the beach...
My motor is now off of the big engine stand and on a roll around lift cart. Inching ever so much closer to the installation into the car. |

What engine is that? A SVX? Finally got around to installing Marks rear bumper top. Nice fit. I had installed the front last month. Then I finally got off my ass and onto my dying feet and made this little roll around fixture using an old furniture dolly. This is my spare engine that's been hanging off the engine stand for a year. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) No. The SVX is 3.3L an older model and much larger. This is an EZ30 "D" series. It is a 3.0L Only 1.5" longer than their 2.5L 4 cylinder. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

That one sounds like a perfect match for a 914. No. The SVX is 3.3L an older model and much larger. This is an EZ30 "D" series. It is a 3.0L Only 1.5" longer than their 2.5L 4 cylinder. On the 'BB', I only got the driver's side floor vacuumed up, the push rods for the brake and clutch pedals properly adjusted, and stuck a depth gauge (piece of wooden doweling) in the fuel tank to determine the quantity of petrol that needs to be drained.
Whilst looking in the rear trunk for the floor board for the pedal area, I opened a mystery box and found the 912 head-pipe/heat exchanger that's been MIA for the past 2,1/2 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) I blasted it and was ready to paint it prior to it going missing, and it's already developed a fair amount of surface rust. Another quick blast session will cure that problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Now, if I could only find the fan housing I misplaced around the same time frame, I'd be ecstatic. |

...more boring sanding/priming pics...got driver's side fender in first primer coat, and sanding pass side. Wind started blowing a little, and I'm rattle-canning the primer in my carport so I had to stop...think I might have gotten some overspray on the neighbor-lady's garden gnomes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
I'm not going to say that I hate sanding, but if sanding and I were in a relationship, I think I would have to pull the, "It's not you, ...it's me" card. The whole relationship seems a bit "abrasive" and a lot of work....then, I think, "maybe I'm just spending too much time focusing on the surface".... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) By the way, if you're in need of some 916 fiberglass bumpers or stock, well-used 76 bumpers, I should have some stuff posted in the classifieds by Sunday.... Apparently, I'm not allowed to store "small parts" in the house... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bs.gif) [attachmentid=616 369] Attached image(s) |

You could probably pick up a set of BUBs for free, or just the cost of shipping at worst case. Check the classifieds - I know I've seen ads for them not too long ago.
Today, I only got around to sanding down the front tunnel access cover plate, painted it and the driver's floor board. Just need to attach the throttle pedal cable and linkage then I can install those parts. ... Didn't get a whole lot done yesterday either, but I re-routed some extra cabling through the tunnel from the dash to the battery (for a pending high-powered radio installation), and installed a (914rubber) upgraded hand pull for the driver's seat. Also, this afternoon, sold a set of 5.5x15" Lemmerz 5x130 wheels I recently found in a corner of the garage a week ago. The buyer wants to have them re-chromed at Perfect Wheel (previously know as Bolton Wheel) in Gardena before having them shipped up to Canada. "Free garage space at last, free garage space at last ... Thank God almighty we have free garage space at last" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

Pulled the rockers in preparation for tear down and everything was found to be solid as expected.

Tear down? What are you doing? Your car doesn't need to be "torn down". My to do list: Rings & Valves at minimum...have to pull the motor for a refresh Repair Hell Hole Rust Replace Front Trunk Pan Replace & Weld Rear Trunk Hinge Have Donor Trunk, Front Lid & doors to replace those panels with Rust Remove fuel tank: clean & refinish Full bare Metal 3 stage paint job Powder coat engine Tin New windshield & Trim All New Rubber Going from an average #3 car to an excellent #2 car when completed, at least thats the plan. I want to knock it out all at once. |

Ordered parts for my 1.8 build, decided to spend some money at Tangerine racing for a oil relief spring upgrade!
Also made a few parts for a fellow member here.... I know it looks bent, but it is not....I need a better camera or something (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
