Just drove the '73 for the first time with the new Triad exhaust. BIG improvement from the old extractor. Nice throaty sound.
And great dealing with Dave. |

I fitted the RHS mirror without any drama - was a bit scary though drilling in from the outside but the first pilot hole was only 0.5mm out so all good. Certainly saved stuffing around removing interior door trim (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Next step for Oz rego is a metric speedo. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1504874005.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1504874007.2.jpg) Lights, mirrors, almost ready for action... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/photos.smugmug.com-20461-1504874007.3.jpg) Looking great, hope you have more luck finding a metric speedo than I did...took me around 6 months to find one,got one from the US in the end,a few on European ebay sites but very spendy. Loved Western Australia lived there for over 4 years....great place. |

After a week in Scotland today was the first day for a while on the car.
I fitted the fuel pump up front under the tank and wired it in, don't know if it works yet though because the battery is on my son's car! Also fabricated the other side engine tin, stripped the paint off both ready for the VHT paint which I seem to have mislaid. Also fitted the replacement complete steering column that I bought a while ago. Nearly forgot I also fitted the blower controls and blower. But had to take the blower out as the wiper isn't working! I have a few niggles to deal with before asking for help to fix. |

Morons who believe the government should provide for you from the cradle to the grave. I was born here and CA has gone straight down the toilet. Garbage everywhere, graffiti, seriously overgrown vegetation all over the freeways, accident debris that is just left on the freeways- bumpers, grills, wheels, etc, pot holes that ruin wheels and tires, and homeless POS MF'ers all over with their hands out who poop and pee all over and just pile up their junk on public property. The police and government do absolutely nothing to curtail this criminality which impacts everyone's quality of life. Oh, did I mention this whole sanctuary city and possibly sanctuary state under the moonbeam idiot? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)

Should be 250k ; I think it will work but won't be accurate due to the mph speedo having different gearing. |

Hi Midway, how did you locate the correct spot to drill from the outside? Thanks, Bill. Hello Bill, I took careful measurements of the LHS mirror hole positions and applied them to the RHS and triple checked. I made the assumption that the factory used accurate jigs to position the nuts inside the door skin. They must have! I drilled the first hole with a 2mm drill and tested its position by rubbing a pin upside down in the hole using the head to feel for the threads. Then I used a 4mm drill followed by a small round jewelers file to correct its position before finishing with the correct size drill. You need to control the drill depth carefully so you don't damage the thread. After that I adjusted the previously measured position of the second hole accordingly. I had to be brave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I'm hoping a bloke in Perth who runs a Porsche used parts business called Swan Porsche Parts can help with a speedo. He is from Germany, born and bred in Stuttgart so with that pedigree he might be useful. |

The speedometer face says 240 but goes to 250 at the bar just past 240. |
