Fixed a broken oil temp sender wire and got it ready to take to Flagstaff for a week on Tuesday. Used 1/2 quart of oil in 2,700 miles since the last oil change...not bad. Not bad at all (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE Not my car but helped a friend start his car and break-in the cam. First time it's ran since he bought it 5 years ago. I'll get some pictures next time I see it but he had it painted Bahama yellow and it looks great. Still lots of reassembly and sorting to do but hopefully he will have it ready for Rt 66 -2018. I want to repaint my '66 912 Bahama Yellow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) ... never saw it on a 914, but I'll probably like it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) |

I took the factory ski racks off of the car, yesterday my son said "they don't go with the GT thing."
Cruised the car up towards Newport with the top off and the windows down, wow, I need to do that more often. The traffic came to a sudden stop in Laguna Beach, bumper to bumper as far as the eye could see, so I gave up and turned around to head south. |

Hey Euro, don't you mean my 1966 912? Hmmmph (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) ... You'll have to grab the keys out of my pocket at the mortuary (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)QUOTE Now I know where to find the keys. Let's discuss it in a couple of weeks if you can get the Ghia out to the Beer, Brats & Beetles event up in Santa Clarita! Even the Ghia has issues. The driver's side inner seat track has been back-ordered with every VW vendor for about a year. In calling around, I found out the manufacturer is KGPR and was informed that they lost some of the machinery pieces for the pressing them when they relocated to their new facility. The owner said he'd try to locate an inner track for me this coming week, but couldn't guarantee anything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I feel like Rodney Dangerfield (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) |

Nothing. Been down, in the shop, waiting for a back-ordered part for about a month now. What a drag. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

Flushed and bled the brakes. Used a Power Bleeder. Made it a simple one man job. Brakes feel MUCH better!

New high torque starter, new battery, new Danske muffler. Might need a new fuel sender. Old cars... a great way to justify not buying new because of the expense, until.... |

Had a little run in with a Dodge Challenger when I went by him the look on his face was priceless hahaha. That is fantastic! I smoked a Subaru STI a while back. The guy was so embarrassed that he wouldn't pass me until I slowed down 15 mph under the speed limit. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the fading sound of his blow off valve with every shift of the 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |
