I have quite a few guitars around here, but the #1 player is a 00-18V that won the Martin sweepstakes. I had about seven of them here at one point, but I whittled it down a bit. This one just sounds and plays the best. I play every night before going to sleep. Today I was out on the front steps playing to my hearts' content.
I'm too far past caring what anybody thinks about what I play and sing. |

Just cleaned up in the garage, I did find a review on Amazon that the person mentioned using the product on their 914:
QUOTE By CMM on September 27, 2017 I'm using a 2,600 psi 2.6GPM pressure washer and Multi-purpose sand from Home Depot. The sand is pretty fine, dry and clean. The problem I'm having is the sand doesn't flow consistently. It flows for lack of a better word, in chunks. I can see maybe 2-3" chunks of sand making its way down the tube and then BAM! It blasts out and does remove the paint from a car I'm restoring. So it works, but takes REALLY long to strip an area. I've tried playing around with the flow control, doesn't seem to make any difference. Honestly, I have it closed and seems to work better in that position. I do zip tie the hose to my wand so its on top. In 1.5 hours of blasting I went through four 50lb bags of sand and only cleaned maybe 60% of a Porsche 914 engine compartment. Pretty small area. And be aware, its EXTREMELY messy. When finished sand will be EVERYWHERE and you will get flash rust on bare metal almost immediately. I've decided to use it for the hard to reach places and Aircraft paint remover for the larger panels. Maybe a larger pressure washer is the trick. I'm just too cheap to rent one not knowing if it will make a difference. |

Lawrence....
Pics - pics - pics. Gotta see that 00-18V......what year is it? TOTALLY agree with your last sentence..... A good motivation for me to playing more like you do 'on the front steps'...... GN I have quite a few guitars around here, but the #1 player is a 00-18V that one the Martin sweepstakes. I had about seven of them here at one point, and I whittled it down a bit. Kent, I am disappointed with the numbers, I thought it would be kool but no.
1:8, it's about 200 hp in 1600 #. 8:1 don't sound any better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) |

I tried to fit the new accelerator cable but that never happened!
I did however fit the clutch & Speedo cables. In doing those 2 I found I have 2 leaky pushrod tube seals. |

Today I drove it, like always (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
This weekend I re-painted the top and replaced the sail panel vinyl. After a long hiatus of just driving my 914, I am back to working on it and improving it. Parts that were stored for months are going on! And, sadly, in a few weeks I'll post a bunch of pictures in my future ad in the Classifieds as it's time to end this 12 year relationship and sell the 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

Today Pioneer Leather made a House call to refinish my leather GTS Le Mans Driver seat. Fun to watch how they refinish leather and learned a few tricks when cleaning upholstery.
The tech first cleaned all the dirt and grim with a 1:1 solution of isopropyl and ammonia. The grime just flowed out. He applied the cleaner with a spray bottle and gently worked the leather with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser; then mopped up with a microfiber towl. After cleaning and drying, he sprayed the dye on. My driver's seat could stand a good refreshing, Jim. How much did they charge? ... (you can PM or call me if you don't want to spill the beans) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif)

Love that picture of the 914's I assume at the Karman factory way back when... maybe my '71 is in there somewhere!
Took the '73 out for a cruise and gave it a present of some 95 octane fuel... |

Hell hole rust repair complete. New engine tinware all but completed. Completely new engine mounts fabricated and installed. 2.8 L reverse rotation Corvair engine installed (again). Throttle linkage fabricated. Can nearly see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hope to be driving it this time next month.
