Beautiful!

Thanks! I need a little incentive to continue this 2 year project. Ray

damn, i just put that same exact flywheel seal in....i hope it doesnt start leaking.

nice breather box. is that one baffled? from the guy over on the samba?
I had both, Victor Reinz and Elring seals on the shelf here, was told the Elring was better so that's what we originally installed. The new Elring seems to have a tighter grip around the yoke on the flywheel than the one we removed, so we'll see how it works out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Trial-fit the seal on the flywheel before installation. I also replaced the graphite-coated O-ring in the flywheel.

Yes Doug, Samba. The guy's name is Travis. I had him construct the box with both, 1/8" perf and solid plate drain-back baffling. The box looks good - the welds are real nice.

Phil, it all depends on how much CCP you've got. Stock pressures may not require a remote box, but they can be use with either carbs or FI.

yes i have the same box. except i had him weld on AN fittings instead. very nice workmanship. and price too. i powder coated mine semi gloss black. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) did you find a good place to install it?

my flywheel seal looked just like the one in your photo. 2 tone. it replaced an orange one that never leaked.... i guess we will see....fingers crossed.

I'm planning to mount the box in that depressed area on the firewall. Not going with the nice, fancy braided hoses, so ordered with the slip-on fittings.
Yeah, for what you get, his prices are great. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My last 914 had that same wheel (Luisi, right?). For my current project, I upgraded to the Momo "Retro" which looks the same, but is a larger diameter. I can't wait to actually use it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Looking' good!

Yes--that is a Luisi wheel. I've used them on two of my cars. Thanks for the positive comments. It's taken a long time to get to this point. Ray

Had to fab up some new pipes when I lost a SuperTrapp somewhere near Nachez. Dangit. I wonder how long the new one will take to heat up and match the old one. Bunch of work just so it can look like it did before. Now off to drive!

I'm happy to say that after a 3 week hiatus from driving the 914 as a DD, I sold the BMW, and got back into the 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Couldn't live without it.
