Mike and I are finishing up the refresh on his new blue car.
New SS fuel lines, fresh hoses and another fuel pump relocate. Hoses long enough to remove pump and fuel filter from the tire wheel. Tank hoses long enough to pull the tank out ................. |

Replaced my fog light lens on my 914. The original ones were 45 years old, frosty, and pitted. I replaced them with European amber lens. The lens are glass and look like fine crystal. They were a pain in the ass to replace too. Got them from 914Rubber.com The end result is pretty neat. (I downloaded the picture correctly but it is sideways. If you click on the picture, it ups loads on another page and it correct! Gremlins!)

Yep....the Irish Green '72 with the 2.7. I'm going to pull the old transmission in the next couple of weeks. |

Moved my 914 from across the street to my own driveway, it has only been there for a year and half.
I saved .75 cents and made my own dowel pin for my 1.8 build from a HSS drill bit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Overkill as I almost always do. Putting in the over the top front sway bar. 914 sway bar reinforcement from Maddog in the fender well and inside unit from Tangerine racing.
Eric said I needed one but if one is good, my mind says 2. I welded in the 2 parts and had to weld on a new brake line bracket, as the MadDog set up requires removing the factory one. . Had to drill 3 holes and a big 1.25-inch hole for the bar. Lots of grinding for me. Bob B (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) |

Freshened up Mike's parking brake boots and cleaned and anti-seized pin and keeper.
Did a little tune up on the console heat temp lever and replaced the cable and installed new seals. There's a good shot of Mike's new SS fuel lines. Then while Mike was discussing removing the rear trunk hinge torsion bars we saw that there was a couple slight tears in his right pivot. When removing the hinges it didn't seem like the hinges were all that bound up. Maybe it was addressed on the re-paint ? This was the first time with the 110v Miller that it felt like I didn't have enough juice. Then I remember that I was running it off the drop down cord, rather than directly into the wall. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Lesson learned. Ready for the install ................ stopping for fresh fuel on the way in. |

Decided to do a mastectomy on my 914. My 73 had tits but always liked the clean look of earlier 914s.
Not a hard job and I can always put them back on for originality. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Working on the bottom of my V8 car. Cleaning up bottom and spraying Wurth underbody spray. It takes a lot of cans as it does not go that far but doing this work on my rotisserie and my ventilated shop for plastic makes it much easer than on the ground. My Rotisserie has indexing every few degrees to lock the car in position also has hydraulics cylinders to lower or raise the position of the car from the ground. At $1,200. In 2008 it seemed like lot of money. I welded the huge 5-inch super heavy-duty wheels. This makes it easer to weld or get just the right position and move around.

Over the past couple of days i've sorted the electrical gremlins.
First the lights issue. A big one tonight for me, my electrical knowledge is very limited. I refurbished the wiper linkage a while ago and tested it on the bench so i knew the motor was working. However it would not work off 1 switch but would off the second switch. The indicator switch worked on one but not the other. Only tonight did i discover that the switches seperate. So i decided to try it, i'm heavy handed and break lots of stuff like this. I put the two good switches together and refitted them. No bloody wipers again! After a bit of swearing and calming down i went back and retried them before removing them. They worked (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) So now i have all but reverse lights and my wipers work!! Next is to fit the blower motor (hopefully it works) the the fuel tank. I'm finally getting close to getting it road legal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
