I scraped off minor surface rust from underneath and plan to undercoat my '73 with POR15 this weekend. Should be "fun"! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Have a fun time!

Excellent coating just follow the directions.

And be sure to wear eye protection and a proper respirator mask!!

If you have left over por15, pour it in a jar and cover with wax paper and then screw the lid on and try not to tip the jar over. Otherwise you'll never get the lid off. If you already knew this, disregard this post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Which product is superior? ... POR-15, or the Wurth Stone Guard undercoating?

If you have a rusty area you need to take care of that. Por-15 they say is one way. Not sure if it will convert rust to something different.

Wurth Stone Guard is different in that it gives you a decent look and makes the metal sound deadened when you tap it. It is somewhat rubbery. It is like a sprayable Wurth seam sealer that I have put on. So I think it will stop water from getting in. The factory uses this in our cars when new. The tan stuff is all over the P cars that I have worked on. My 6 had a shitload on the bottom. It is paintable. Too different products.

It will take almost forever for our cars to prove the test because we do not drive them like they where when they where new.

Looks awesome, is there a build thread on this car?

Hi sir Jeffrey! no build thread sir. I just post once in awhile on what we did to it. Basically, the car came from corona shop for painting and some welding, the shop in stanton for engine rebuild, then Alan towed the car to my place and engine on his company truck. Some items we did at my place like FI replacement, fuel pump and fuel lines and those mentioned above. Going to install new rotors, calipers. Still need floor replacement that will be done soon.

I had Cory Shepard of Specialty Gauge rebuild and clean up 47 years of use from each of the 6 gauges/instruments in the car. They look brand new !!!!

Now just have to wait until my return in April to install them and get her on the road again.

I just had mine registered a few days ago. I'd put in some new front wheel bearings and as the reversing lights were not working, I had to machine up a new pin for the transmission to actuate the switch. Australia Day today, 26C here in paradise, so had to take it for a drive - legally this time! Good, fun stuff. "KYB shock absorber" is a misnomer.

First I picked up my wheels- Factory Fuchs 15” 7s, 8s, and one 6” spare for space saver from Rick at http://www.porschewheelservices.com/ $990. Then went to an art show that I was in at the Santa Monica airport and I saw a 914-EV at Whole Foods parking lot near there.
