I have a line on a used 23mm torsion bar. Can anybody give me an idea on whats a fair price for this? A ballpark range is fine

if it's a torsion bar, i'd probably get two (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

if it's a sway bar with adjustable droplinks, $200-300???
w/ out adjustable droplinks, $150-250??

don't know what "market" is..

I don't know the market either, but I just sold a stock 15mm swaybar for 80.00 IIRC.

In my ballpark (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) an adjustable in good shape would be a nice buy at 150.00 to 200.00 tops.

Torsion bar? I dunno.

For track use on nascar circuits you can get away with one torsion bar - just put the stiff one on the outside.

If its a pair of torsion bars...
I think new ones are 250...
I've paid 110 before... but I think that was a good deal
used probably=130$

(you likely would be better off with a 21 or 22 set... than a set of 23's)

torsion bars rarely ever need replacement rarely are damaged when 914's are parted for crash or rust reasons. Golly, almost no market demand, and big supply, you ought to be able to score one cheap to free. You just need to find someone parting out a 914 to get one.

I work with a guy who has a brother that is getting ready to dump off a boatload of 914 and 911 autocross stuff.

I think these are 23mm... 911 splined torsion bars..
so a bit more market demand...

seriously verruckt, you may not want to go to 23's...

Are those 911 t-bars or 914 t-bars?
23s are pretty much track only
For AX you'll very likely be skittering all over the course (unless it's a very smooth course) and you'll hate 'm on the street

The guy that has this stuff was into AX. I used to have stiffer torsion bars in my old 914, but they were put in before I bought it. So i have no idea what they were (bout 10 years ago).

Im planning on building an AX car that will see limited street use. I as thinking 23mm torsion bars and 180# rear springs. Is this "rough", or unstreetable? I can deal with a rough ride.

I don't think its about the ride quality... I think its about the balance and thus performance of the suspension...

There is a racer/builder in Colorado. He runs a PCA GT-5 car in club racing, and he usually beats most of the GT-3 guys.... Ask Brad, about him.... I think he beat Rich pretty well at a california race... (I know rich had a much smaller motor)...

but the point is balance. This guy is running a fully winged out, downforced car with 350lb rear springs. Its a 2.2L -4 by the way. He won't run 23's on the front because they are too much spring and he runs 22's on his front to balance the car.....

A lot of the 911 guys go for the 23's on the SC and heavier cars... I think they are too stiff for a teener and especially a -4cylinder or weight reduced teener...

Just my $.02
