Try glycerin from the local pharmacy. Rubber is happy with it. That's always been my motto! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |

I could use a set or two, how much money? We're working on deciding what kind of rubber to use which impacts the price. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Boot is on its way to Mikey. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I will know about pricing in about 1 week or so. It looks like the last week of August or 1st week of September is when I'll have the boots. Keep signing up to reserve a pair! An actual GB thread will be created in 3 weeks. I'll require money in about 4 weeks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |

Update-
We're looking at doing them with injection molding. Mikey's hoping to get a quote back by the end of the week. Skinny on injection molding pros: More parts produced per mold (100p vs 1000p) Less rubber used (less cost on rubber/less time used/less cost) Quicker turn around time Skinny on injection molding cons: Expensive to make the mold More expensive for machine time. |

Just wanted to update everyone on where we are in the process.
Mikey and I are going to look at all the quotes for injection molding the boots and come to a decision based on the information contained in the quotes. The longest "waste" time period in this was getting the quotes from the various injection molding manufacturers, but I anticipate things moving a bit faster after a manufacturer has been chosen. By going the injection molding route, this lowers the overall tooling cost per boot, substantially lowers the rubber cost per boot (less waste) and more boots can be made to tighter specs. Don't worry, it still looks like these boots will be available for Christmas. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa_smiley.gif) |
