Steel flares, or fender flares in general , fit compatibly with the fiberglass, ABS rockers in order to maintain the correct line of the flare, or so I always thought??
See photo of similar car: This otherwise precludes the use of Steel Rockers, which I've always only saw in the fully straight/ flat style: Am I correct in this conclusion? Or are the steel rocker ends worked to maintain the flared fender lines? Or can the steel rockers with pre-flared ends be found by some aftermarket supplier? |

Flared rockers are always fiberglass unless someone modified steel rockers by hand. I've seen it done and i like the idea.
As far as i know, nobody is selling flared steel rockers ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

I had both my rockers and valences done when the body shop put on the flares. They look great. But there is no one that I know of who is actually doing this for sale.

I eye-balled both 930 and 911SC rear bumper extensions...seems like the flair lines up well with the contour of the 914 flair. Anybody look at this in detail? Might be a good metal grafting option to 914 stock stell flares?

I mean the ABS rockers can be made with the exact correct roll to match the roll of the steel fender flares. The problem is that the ABS rockers tend to be flimsy as compared to the steel rockers. Does any one else find this to be at issue or is the ABS a suitable replacement for the steel and leave it as is? Yi

You can also go without the contoured rocker...not that I necessarily like the look. Ideally, a custom fit/formed steel rocker would be on order. As I've said many times during my teener build - it's only money! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
BTW, I have the glass rockers with my flairs and although they are solid "enough" for my track car/hot rod - a nicely done show-er/poser might like something a little more substantial. |
