Oops sorry, a couple of you asked for totals, huh?
PayPal: $332.00 (after the fees) Checks: $265.00 Total: $597.00 Our 1st Brick: 12x12 = $500 Our 2ndBrick: 8x8 = $250 (1st choice for a 2nd) 4x8 = $150 (2nd choice for a 2nd) 8x8 has 6 lines of Text 4x8 has 3 lines of Text. NOTE: the $597 does NOT include my own personal donation.... I was going to make up any difference between what we've rec'd AND the cost for two Bricks, one $500 & one $150, until...... I mentioned to VegasRacer that we were that close and I wanted to get a 2nd Brick. John(V.R.) said why don't we go for a 8x8 2nd Brick, see if a little more money comes in, which it sounds like it will now. THANKS EVERYONE! We think the 2nd Brick should talk about the 914's Racing Heritage/Victories. Examples: PORSCHE 914 LE MANS 24 HOUR 1970 CHAMPION Or with SIX lines of Text: PORSCHE 914/6GT 24HR CLASS WINS: 1970 LE MANS 1971 DAYTONA WWW.914CLUB.COM Didn't a 914 win a Rally, the Carrera de Rally or something like that? Some races 914's won http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/25226951 Per http://www.vpracing.com/The_Cars/the_cars2.html In 1970, Porsche introduced the competition version of its mid-engine, 914/6 roadster, the 914/6GT that won its class at Le Mans. The next year in the hands of Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood, it would claim the inaugural Camel GT championship, going on to later win several Camel GTU crowns as well. The model was also active in SCCA National competition, and in international rallying, although it never achieved the success in either venue that it did in professional, high-end international circuit competition. |

We are so close to the extra $250 we need for the 2nd 8 x 8 brick.
It looks like we only need another $153 to make it happen. Having 6 lines of text to play with would be great. The limit of only 15 characters per line makes it tough. Here is some more 914-6 GT Race history with links to results. Any ideas or suggestion for the 6 lines of text are welcome. Be sure to comply with the 15 letters / spaces per line rule. The first brick is a 12 x 12 for $500 with our logo. The final vote is in and this is what it will look like. Attached image(s) |

The only other major class win for the GT was the sweep of 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 1970 Marathon de la Route. It was held at the Nurburgring so it is kinda covered along with the victory in the 1000km at that track in 1971. I tried but there was no way to abbreviate it so it would fit in 15 letters or less and still make sense.
There is enough space in line 3 to have a space in LE MANS (or LEMANS) if you think that is better. The same for the dashes between the events. Either with or without, your call. Would the first line be better as 'PORSCHE 914-6' ? Come on guys (and gals) just a few more bucks and we are there. |

Can you make that work John? 3) Yeah, c'mon, just a little more. Give 'til it hur, er, feels good. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

QUOTE(VegasRacer @ Oct 26 2004, 08:35 AM) Like this? Do you want a dash or a slash on 914 6 ? Are you sure we want GT back to back on line 1 and line 2? Regarding the slash, makes no diff to me. It seems like on the cars, it's 914-6 but in print from the factory it's more like 914/6 right? and you're right, I think it would look better to NOT have GT on both lines. Nice call Vegas Racer. |
