Hi All, A newbie here, happy to get hands dirty but a bit overwhelmed by the general troubleshooting tips I've found for the D-Jet. Hoping for something specific before I have to start tearing the whole thing apart.

Turn the key and it catches right away but dies within seconds; various mindless impulsive pedal pumping strategies seem to make only the slightest difference.

Am tempted to present some history, but it's short (< 2yrs) and very complicated.

Thanks

Claude B

You need to go here http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/index.html

I had a similar problem and found that it was the connection on my CHT sensor. It was lose enough to cause it to lose the connection from vibration. I'd be driving down the road and all of a sudden, engine cuts and I coast to a stop. then I'd start it up, runs for a few minutes then cuts out again. Start it up runs, and cuts out. Kept happening sporadically and i couldn't find the cause until I read Brads trouble shooting.

Then I checked all the connections for the sensors and the CHT connections just pulled apart with no effort. I crimped on a new female spade, and everything worked fine after that.

The above site is a very good one. Sounds like you might have a fuel delivery problem. Does your fuel pump run for a few second when you turn on the ignition (before trying to start)? If not I would first check your relay (left side of engine compartment on of all things, the relay board). Try to find a known good relay either on the relay board or perhaps headlight motor relay and swap it in. Of course it could also be the fuel pump. The Anders information should help you out as well as the search function on this board.

Good luck,

Keith

Is there gas in the tank? Always check the simplest thing first. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Thanks Guys! The CHT seems a good place to start.

A piece of recent history that may help: about 2 weeks previous to finding it in this state, I had a glorious 1 hour highway drive from RacerChris' shop.

Hopefully this tidbit may eliminate a few variables.

Thanks Again.

A bad ignition switch could cause your symptom.
Try to start it and look at the gauges. Is there power to the gauges and idiot lights when the key is in the run position after releasing the starter?
