I put a hood badge on my car, Euro tail lights and euro front turn signals, it had a monza exhaust and I love it. I even put a German 1973 small decorative plate in the rear window.
Oh, also a rear fog light. The car was just a project when I bought it, so I was able to make it look like my dad’s with the light ivory color and the hubcaps, then I added a few other things I really liked. I wouldn’t change a thing it’s perfect to me. |

Porsche has always been 'development over engineering'. Why else keep the same body style for decades? It's what separated them (and VW for that matter) from the constantly 'evolving' US car market.
Progressive refinement. |

Most of the things I’m doing had been done to the sixes, or in my opinion should have been done by the factory. Darn windshield wipers park right in my field of view. I took them off for a while. Then saw a better way. When I bought my 914 (fourteen years ago!), the wiper "park" function didn't work. They just stop moving wherever they are when you turn them off. It's very easy to time it to shut them off when they're at their lowest position on the passenger side. Problem solved. (I have no idea if the failure was a result of wear or a "fix" by a PO. But it works for me!) |

Perfect thread for me to try and fit in as a newbie.
I have had a 73 now for 23 years and it’s been on a rotisserie for 22 years. All the parts, doors and everything but wheels, engine, suspension, windshield, doors, front and back hood, fuel tank were burnt in a storage fire with a 71, and all its parts, extra amounts of other parts too, all gone. So I’m first thinking turn it into a race car because the new doors I bought aren’t really stock to that car in year, no interior so I’d have to find that too. Race car seems good, I bought a 74 roller couple weeks ago which needs a complete new floor pan,,, my intent for the 74 is power, lots of crazy HP, lots of extra layers of reinforcement sheeting, roll cage intertwined from nose to tail, removing rear trunk pan, and etc. it will be powered by an American motor, which I guess isn’t applauded by many 914 purist's. I miss driving that 73, has a racing 2.0 my dad built before o bought that car from my mother. He cammed it, counter weight crank, etc, bored cylinders,,so it was 1.7 I guess. Hitting right hand turns at 50 and coming out around 40 was a damn fine blast and I miss it. So one semi stock and the other a tank top tshirt with big rubber burning power |

Make 'em what will make you happy. |

The one to the edge should be straight so the wiper doesn't hit the trim when parked. |

I love them on the driver side.
The first swing of the wipers clears the water from your view. Move them to the passenger side and the first wipe moves water into your view. When parked, the water that’s coming off your cowl and hood is redirected off the left of the windshield. My wife’s Honda parks on the right. All the excess water that was pushed down by the driver side wiper now flows unimpeded over the driver side of the windshield. Porsche had them on the right on early 911’s. I plan to move it to the left on my ‘67. Freaking out the originality guys will be a bonus. * If you are in an area that rarely gets rain, it’s not a big concern. |
