I need to get winter tires for my 2002 BMW 325i. I have it narrowed down to Michelin Pilot Alpin 2, and Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice 3. I normally would go with the Michelins without question, but even tire rack said they were close, and that the Goodyear would be better on snow and ice, while the Michelin would handle better on dry roads. Anybody have any experience? Any advice? I need to get them this weekend or Monday, since I am gong on a trip up north next week.

Thanks

If you want a true Snow and Ice tire I would go with Blizzaks WS50 they will get you through anything you throw at it. The other tires you mention are good and offer better dry performance than the Blizzaks so you need to decide what you want. Go to www.tirerack.com and compare the three tires and see what meets your needs. I have been using Blizzaks for about 7-8 years.

I agree with the recommendation for the Blizzaks - I had the them on my BMW 6 Series, and even on that poor, bad-weather ride, they did wonders.
