Post some pics of "his" progress... I havent seen any.

Oh.. it was a compliment. I'm always amazed that 914 guy's can attract attractive women.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif) I would have never guessed...LOL

Where the heck were you last year? I just moved to Colorado! I was in Indy with a 914 and I would have been more than happy to be of service! Oh well...another missed chance to show off!

I can see it now: Everyone commenting on the little black sports car. How it looks familiar, but somehow exotic? What is it? A Porsche? Me strutting out to sit in the car to get started. Approving nods from various onlookers, some of them possibly even jealous... and then...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

crap, won't start...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

I can smell the fuel, whats wrong? It drove the 20miles to get to the site of the parade! It should work!!! People now think I am a lunatic, talking to myself and the car... Pop the engine lid and lean over inside...is it getting spark? Why now? all the wiring looks good...could you hand me that tool kit?

I think you all know where I'm going with this! HAHAHAHA

LOL....Brad.... See I came BEFORE the car. I had no idea he was into 914's as much when we got married. I am learning all about these little cars.

Well his car...hmmm....his actual car needs A LOT! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Now the car he is calling his and saying is close is actually my dad's 914 that he bought when Dan got his. Well it is pretty close to running but has run into a few little snags. Now, I haven't taken any pictures of it because of various other things going on during the times when he was working on the car. He would have to post to tell ya what it is that is keeping the Silver car from coming out of the garage.

If I get a porsche for the parade, it will be my first ride EVER in a porsche. I won't be a 914 Virgin anymore! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Anyway, the silver one isn't going to be ready for the parade, otherwise Dan would be bragging right now that he is going to be driving it for the parade. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I am surprised he doesn't even have any pics up of either of those two cars. He surely took enough on my digital camera of them sitting! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That IS a pretty car! I can see that vision now...me walking in the parade...crown and sash on....with my sign of who I am on my back...pushing the porsche! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I better revise my wardrobe that day and NOT wear my gown! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I met Dan last year under the back of Seans white car. Great guy. You sound like a wonderful lady. Hang in there, Dan will get a 914 on the road. We are his "support" group.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I need to visit family soon in Indy. Maybe we can put together a few "work" days to help him out.

Oh yea...one minor detail....Both cars are up at my parents in Rolling Prairie Indiana! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) So even when he wants to work on it...he has to drive 2.5 - 3 hours to get to it. So you see that he doesn't get much time to work on it. But if he could work on it telepathically, it would be done, because he is constantly talking about it and thinking about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OUCH. I forgot about that. Dan did tell me that. I would think *somebody* has shop space he could "borrow" and get one of the cars closer to him.

He would love that. I think the main reason it is up at my parents is the fact that he has help from my dad (when my dad isn't busy) to work and test things. My dad LOVES to rebuild cars. He has many exceptional vehicles in his large garage. Plus my dad has all the tools that he would ever need to use to work on the cars, not to mention the parts and such up there as well. The orange 914 (Dan's car) still has no engine. That one isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We towed it up to my parents so it could get worked on. Might be a waste to bring it back down here unless he can get the parts to get it working. Still it leaves me high and dry for a ride either way on parade day. Yes I am still fussing about that. OK: Silver car...
Yes, it officially belongs to my father-in-law, but I'm pretty sure he'll sell it to me for a good price.

Shoulda been ready for the FFC. All I needed was the carb synch bar for the webers. Doug was kind enough to let me borrow one from his stash. (It's still in my trunk Doug....gotta get it back to you...) I was putting everything together and noticed rather late that the intakes that I had required a longer stud coming out of the head for the outside studs on both sides. I moseyed over to the other 1.7 on the engine stand to see how hard it would be to pull the stud and replace it with a longer one. It came right out. I figured, "No Problem!" I got 3 of the studs out with no prob....the fourth stud sheered off at the head. Now I probably need to drop the engine, pull the head and see if I can get that dam screw out, or replace it if necessary. If I had a place like Brad's and his know-how, it'd be a 45 minute job. Me? It'll take half the winter.

Ok: Orange car...
Mine....but has significant rust damage. Fixable, but I want to get the Silver going first. I have 2 1.7 cores complete, but unsure of the integrity of the insides. I may end up putting a different engine in it, like a Buick v6 or sbc. A V8 just sounds like sooooo much engine for such a little car. Prolly kill me. I could prolly put in a 2.2L Saturn 4 banger and get about 220hp and 45+ mpg. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I hate Homeowners' Associations....they actually have a rule that says I can't work on a car even if its in my garage if the garage door is open.
