Hey Marty,we need a update (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) also when's the next parking lot party ?

Small update for you all below!

QUOTE(396 @ Oct 21 2016, 10:51 AM) *

Sometimes, I think Marty just tend to surf this forum. I remember seeing other updates in the various Porsche forums.
Yes, I think the ones who really appreciate this out of the box track toy would love to see updates to this incredible build

You are correct that he (and I) still very much frequent this forum, and others too.

We are very happy to know that you all still enjoy seeing our progress on this project. We are 99% done with fabrication / body panel fitting, and will hopefully be in paint by November 1st.

All of past my body shop relationships have been lukewarm. I've been dealing with a new local shop for a couple years...looks like this roller should be smooth sailing.
Scotty is tops tho !

Simple clip/screw attachment to the GT3RS fender ducts, this will keep them in place on the Sheridan quarter panels. After placing my template down to the fenders, I only had one chance to correctly cut the fiberglass...and I nailed it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Attached Image

Awesome!

Just out of curiosity, why did you go for standard primering, etc. instead of powder coating since this is really just the "hidden" frame?

Jim...we needed to install the custom dashboard prior to building our cage around that area (can't install post-cage) . Since powder coating involves the heat/oven cycle...that would be a no-go for the alcantara /CF dashboard. Body shop is using one of the best primers /2 coats, after full metal preperation (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That makes sense-totally missed the installed dash. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The set- up with rubber tipped vise grips, clamp; the contours of the ducts are made for 991 fitment; clamps help relax the duct into the Sheridan fender, which has a real close contour to the 991 but not exact. Each bracket (6 tot) has its own mating angle to the duct fastener. Simple JB epoxy and a 24 hour set up time, and complete.
