A couple things. First, I love my MSDS headers, you guys are artists! Second, how did I miss this? This is an incredible build! I just went through it, start to finish and I feel like I need to smoke a cigarette! Dear God that’s hot! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) Thank you Rob for choosing my MSDS upgrade products, our crew is not about production line mfg ; each exhaust system is built by a craftsman who takes pride in his work . The 914-8 gtt is also being assembled with MSDS skilled man (and woman) power . There will be a cold one waiting for you ( at our exhibit) , and for all of the 914world members at the meet + greet in Monterey/ Rennsport Reunion 2018 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Check fit of the Tangerine Racing rear suspension- console strengthening struts/ to any interference at the motor mount cross-bar; check ! Chris makes some awesome products for our cars. Next up; complete the Left and Right side plates of the engine mount. This set up is using the Wevo semi-solid (blue) 914 motor mounts, along with 911 semi solids at the rear to capture the nose of the transaxle. Cameo appearance of checkered Vans, comfy shoes to wear while cruising the Grand National Roadster Show this weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

How strong are those motor mounts? A good amount of torque and that bolt may rip through.
My first V8 conversion I used the best 911 mounts on the market (at that time). The first time it was running, I eased the clutch out at idle and ripped the 911 mount apart. I switched to solid steel after that. The mounts looked similar with red bushings. |

Prototype basic door-pull , Rennline red nylon lanyard should do the trick.Close match up on the red door-limit stops ! If you're looking to save weight, you can cut out the heavy reinforcing bar in the door given the cage you've got to protect you....sweet work!! |

Absolutely a concern of mine Mike, compared to the mount system that I'm using on the biturbo six (approx 1/2 the hp, and couple hundred pounds lighter) uses; oe rear 9146 trans mounts (nla) for my crossbar engine mount ( these were solid hard neoprene) and custom billet T6 rear solid mounts at the trans. Works great. In this v8 car I don't want to go solid and transfer a lot of vibration into the unibody. I've studied the Wevo design and have spoken to them in detail...it does have a fail safe design where the billet alum center will catch on another billet flange due to a failure of the semi-solid pillow mount. The center bolt is only an issue if the bolt itself fails...much out the ordinary to (but could) occur given the high strength rating of the fastener. I might go back to solid rear trans mounts if the drivetrain looks spongey when underway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Thank you John...I will actually go back into this primary design of ours wherein we are using quite a bit of h/r and c/r steel in the mfg of brackets and mounting flanges ; remaking these in lighter weight aluminum. The original steel parts will become excellent jig fixtures from which spares can be mfg'd. Lighter is always better, even with big hp cars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Beautiful work, Marty! |

You should make a couple more of those plates with a smaller hole and sandwich that bushing in place. One on either side of the motor mount.
First time you launch that thing, those pretty blue bushings are going to pop out. |

So on the other (500+hp flat fan) 914 I'm running similar mounts in the buckets, and solid T6 alum mounts way back at the nose cone. What is your opinion Mike on running solid mounts all around ?...kind of like this v8 when it was originally in a Riley/ Daytona 24 car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) |

Beautiful work, Marty! Thanks Pete for your valued opinion , I also need to install these Tangerine Racing items into the black six. Good opportunity when we have the drivetrain out for clutch replacement (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Marty |

That V8 is going to be torquey... I run solid mounts. I've done this since I drag raced VW's in the 80's. Yes they are louder. But every time I tried poly or rubber, I've broken them. I'm running a semi-solid in the front. Poly sandwiched between metal. totally solid in the rear. I do hear gear noise but I like it. |
