Again...if it makes you feel any better I am still on jacks stands.....wheels still at the refinisher that Tony sent them to. This was a bad idea...should have just polished them myself.

Suck's don't it. My Tags and Inspection exprired when he had mine. Waiting is frustrating though. Hang in there Joe. In retro spec knowing what I know, if I had to do it again I'd still take it to him, his work is excellent. Doug |

Just talked with Tony.........
Engine was finished last week. Yay. Went on the Dyno last Thursday, few minor adjustments to fuel pressure, timing etc. Then dumped all of its oil during a good pull. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) Oil filter neck on the bottom of the case was cracked. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) No big deal, Tony has plenty of parts. BUT... now he wants to be sure that nothing happend inside the motor in the 3 seconds it took to kill the engine. He said he will get back to me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I feel sick to my stomach. Thanks for all the support. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad2.gif) |

Sorry, Joe.
I dropped off my 914 a while back for an engine rebuild. Decided last minute to haul the trans up to Dr Evil's lair and rebuild that too during the downtime. It's only been 60 days for me... at least 10-15 remaining, perhaps much more. The thought of (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) with freshly rebuilt engine & trans is keeping me going. Hoping to get it back in time for the BBQ at Matt's place... But in the meantime, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) |

What kind of numbers did you get from the dyno?
Its good that it dumped the oil on the dyno and not on I83. Probably saved the engine. This is a good thing Joe. Chin up! Zach |

Update:
Engine is good to go. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Replaced the cracked part and its ready to back in the car. Tony said I am the next car on the lift, either tommorow or Friday. I am gonna cross my fingers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I did look at the dyno sheet, I will post it when I get the sheet in my hand. I saw highest number was 130hp (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I also saw 144 torque, with all the numbers very high across the whole range. WOW This is a 2056 w/ D-Jetronic in case you guys forgot. I am excited all over again. I am guessing 130 at the flywheel. How much is lost in the transaxle?

I am guessing 130 at the flywheel. How much is lost in the transaxle? I was just doing a search to figure that out. The experts say its about 25 percent loss from flywheel to tires with a 901 gearbox. Thats a lot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I had no idea. My engine was measured at the flywheel, so when I pull out my Porsche book and it says 1973 stock 2.0 is 105hp, does that mean 79hp at the wheels? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) p.s. I will post my nubers when I get them |
