My late husband's 1974 914/4 has been sitting in a barn in Washington for the last 5 years. It is developing paint (rust) bubbles. No one at this point has the time or desire to restore it. It has not been started for awhile. Does anyone have a reference to a good mechanic in the Centrailia, Washington area or wants a project? He put in a racing cam (Web Cam?) and had it rebored in 1995?

I live not terribly far from there (Portland). I can at least help you sort out the details about the car to see what condition it's in. I'll send a private message with some ideas.
Thanks, Marcus |

A solid 1973 2.0 is a desirable car. You should get it on the road and enjoy. If that is not in the plan, then if the car is solid it has some value. That value is hard to determine without further information ( amount and location of rust, if the fuel injection is present, appearance group, etc).

IMHO, if it were my car and my wife, I would hope that she sold it. Too many pitfalls and variables in these cars for the average guy/gal to deal with. Get it inspected by one or two 914ites so you know what you have before you list it.
