Here's a group of pics from the 2005 Runoffs. During Qualifying early in the week. During Thursday Qualifying, right after the Miata incident. My in-car: Incident Video Mary's and my reaction in the pit lane. Near the impound shed shortly after the incident. Closeups of the damage. The crew working to repair the car. We completed the repairs just in time for this photo shoot. I started the race but the pink/black Honda hit me in the next corner, and put me out of the race with a caved in rear fender. Are you sure your not racing in a demolition derby? |

I liked Eric's car as I have seen it and it could win this anytime it is in the running. But I voted for the really driven car. Not the hardly driven car. Eric's car has not been to the Route 66 or the Red Rock Classic and they are in his area. I hope it shows up next week just to prove me wrong. Oh, I keep forgetting that I own a real race car.

Chris,
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) was that Miata doing in the video? Surely SCCA doesn't allow that kind of driving, even when warming up the tires! That is outright, blantantly dangerous shit. Whatever happened to him? |

Chris, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) was that Miata doing in the video? Surely SCCA doesn't allow that kind of driving, even when warming up the tires! That is outright, blantantly dangerous shit. Whatever happened to him? You're absolutely right George. The track was under green flag conditions from the moment we left pit lane. Did you notice the flagger on the back straight waving the green flag at him? While my friends were repairing the 914 I was involved in a protest of the Miata driver. He only got a 12 race probation since it was his first infraction. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) Then he had the nerve to appeal the decision... but so did I. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) He lost his appeal fee and I got mine back because the decision was that his appeal was unfounded and mine was well founded, but they still didn't increase the penalty. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I had a petition to have his race license revoked, signed by at least 3 former national champions and 25 other drivers from the small bore classes who all had witnessed his on-track behavior during the season. |

Regarding the Miata driver, I'm pretty speechless. What a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) Still, what a cool story about you folks fixing it back up well enough. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Really hard to keep a determined driver and great crew with a 914 out of the winners circle!

Chris, what are you doing man? First you get accused of bashing your competitors products and then you blatantly challenge the imperial Erc in a public forum! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I found a damage pic from another National race.
This was 2003 at NHIS. Going into the first (left hand) turn the driver in front of me looped his car. We were already on the inside line and I had no choice but to turn right to avoid him. My buddy Robert in a BMW 320i poked into my passenger door. His car, the brick that it is, didn't even have a scratch. |

You know what I appreciate about your car Chris? You retain the tradition of keeping it straight and looking nice. I was always taught, having grown up around sportscar racing and the SCCA, that this was one of the many things that separates sportscar racers and oval track guys. We may get dings and dents too, but we don't simply hammer them out and go back at it. It began as a gentleman's sport, and remains so today - taking pride in your machine means taking pride in remembering the history of racing itself.
If you don't win this month, rest assured your car will be re-nominated right away. |

I voted for the race car Chris, plus my car has several parts from Tangerine.
Chris always fields my calls and talks to me when I have issues. Now maybe I can get a discount......... and I'll just post a couple of pictures in the racing thread |

Thanks George,
I take pride in the fact that my 914 stands out among SCCA race cars. I even had a competitor tell me his son said the Tangerine 914 was his favorite race car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) BTW, I'm still trying to locate those brake ducts for you. I did find the inlet pieces for behind the airdam though. Do you need an airdam? Thanks Roger, Congratulations on a successful debut! That tangerine breather can really stands out, and the installation looks good too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Did you find an obstruction that was preventing the auto-drain-back feature from functioning properly? |

You got mine vote as well. If I pick up this 914 project you'll probably be hearing from me about some of those rear fenders (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
