On of my favorite cars I've ever owned was my 1971 BMW 2800CS. The little brother to the 3.0 CSi. Damn fast car, handled great. I was going to restore her and then well a trash truck made the decision for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

This was my '69 2002, circa 1980. May she rest in peace where ever she is.
I guess I kinda got carried away when a BMW 3.0 CSL won the 12 Hours of Sebring in '75. Yes, that is a commercial floor molding air dam, pop riveted to the fiberglass. The bumper sticker was there to hide the seam. 11 /1 compression - required high octane. I had a wacky mod for advancing the spark from the cockpit. It's a wonder it lasted as long as it did. It was a hoot to drive - drifted reliably but very early on bias-ply 50's : ) Attached image(s) |

I was intending on pulling a mold off of the car and sell kits. Never did it. Attached image(s) |

Great cars!... and like teeners watch for the rust monster.
I still have my '74...bought it in 1980. This was my first Bimmer, then a few five series- '80 528i, 88M5 and now a 92M5. I lust for a '72 3.0 CSI or CSL. I'm in the slow process of restoring the '02 it's blown apart for bodywork...maybe have it finished next year. Someone hit me on the rear quarter and things started from there... I daily drive my restored 74 tii it is a terriffic car does everything I could want and 28 to 30 mpg. I just sold my E28 M5, perhaps the best car I ever owned a real rocket. The two cars inspired my email address. When McMark finishes my 914 I will really have the 70's car thing just about down.
